I know Amazon has a note now stating they filled their initial allotment. I ordered early on the 2nd from BH and it says pre-order on my confirmation email. I think you'll be fine.
As of early Saturday, or Friday night 3/2, Amazon had already sold out on the pre-orders they were allocated. Most likely B&H and Adorama are sold out too. My advice is that if you didn't pre-order by Friday 3/2 by 3:00PM EST, then most of the common places on-line are sold out. Check smaller dealers or local camera shops and get put on a wait list. If a local shop asks you to put some money down, then that would be your best bet.
I recall not being able to pre-order the 5DMkII in 2008 because I dithered and waited until the afternoon of announcement. I finally had to go to a local dealer who ordered it for me and he was able to get it to me the day of release and didn't have to wait for it to be shipped to me.
I know some people who ordered from B&H, Adorama and Amazon shortly after midnight on the 3/2 when the announcement was made, but they were checking this site and Canon Rumors expecting for a release.

or nobody pre-order and just wait a month or two and see how the sensor tests out and make the price drop a few hundres
i placed my pre-order at b&h around 4.30p 3/2. i did receive a confirmation email, but when i go to check the status of the order, it says "backordered", fwiw...i'm just saying...
normally i wouldn't care if i was in the first allotment, but i'm flying overseas the second week of april, and thought it be nice to place with a new toy...
Just send them an email, referencing your order #.

I just pre-ordered, but I forgot about the link here, so I bought from Adorama... And now I can't find a place to cancel that preorder... Sorry
My email says preordered but if you logon to your BH account and go to your order it will say status of backordered. I don't think anyone's says "preordered" on that screen but anyone can post a screenshot to prove me wrong.
A bit rich for my blood. The Nikon D800 as a landscape camera may have an edge. However with the 61pt AF and 41 of them cross point, this is the better deal overall. 22MP is more than sufficient and with 6FPS with the new AF system, this is a superb 1DX alternative. I love my 5DM2 backed up by my 7D. I only bring out my 1D3 when I really want some nice macro shots or taking shots at a sports activity.
This camera is on my short list, just need to allocate the funds when they become available. I am also a B&H fan; superior customer service.

I shoot RAW only and I was wondering I should pick up some CF cards if I end up having this camera. Would SD-card-only work just fine? Or are CF cards a better solution?
If you are shoot simutaneous shots at high speed a CF card would be my choice because they are faster medium with faster throughput; however, if you are taking potraits or landscapes, new SD cards are more than sufficient. In my 1D3 I only use a current 600X Transcend 16GB CF card only and I rarely fill up the buffer even when shooting Raw.
I hope mine does, although I am not quite sure how I am going to pay the upgrade cost after selling my MINT recently acquired 5d2 and grip. I really want to use this camera in April for wedding season.
I still have to sell my 5d2. reading the article on the AF system and video improvements, makes me feel MUCH better
about taking the leap and investing in this body vs going back to another 1ds2.
I qwill not be ordering so someone else can have my slot. I mainly do portraits and landscapes so my current bodies can handle things well. Now if Canon does come out with another body with more MP I might be tempted.
