Looks like B&H is shipping a new batch. I haven't gotten an email from them, but I noticed that my credit card had finally been charged, and when I checked my order status on their site, it has been updated to "shipped" with a tracking number and ETA of Friday.

Has anyone tested it in backlit portrait conditions yet? The lenstip review is pretty damming about it's flare performance and given it's a portrait lens this could be a serious issue.
Not so impressed by the sharpness at 1.8, but after af- tuning (+20!!!), it performed very good. Maybe a little sharper than the D- version, but not much.
Colors and contrast are a little better than on the old one (D- version), but not much. Autofocus are fast enough for soccer/handball and children in action, as the old one was.
Corners gets sharp when stopping down a few stops, same performance as the D- version. Very good.
CA are also visible with this lens.
All in all a good performer, as the old one was. If it wasn`t for the "need" of getting rid of the screw- focusing part, I would have kept the old one and used the money on other lenses.
finally got a shipping notice from my Amazon pre-order!
I'm still not sure how this will fit in my lineup since I have the Sigma 85 and really enjoy it, but I'm always up for trying a new 85mm. The smaller size and weight is appealing, and it isn't all that often that I shoot at f1.4-1.6.

It`s bigger than the D- version, Brett :-). Almost as big as the AF- S 1.4, though the 1.4 is a bit heavier.....

I got mine today from Amazon. I'm a recent Canon convert, and on my d700 at 1.8 it's sharper than my 1.2L II was on my 5d2 at 1.8. It's pretty weird to be able to shoot a fast prime wide open and get repeatable results over and over again (i.e., it achieves critical focus and sharpness 90% of the time, vs 30% of the time on the Canon). It focuses slightly faster, though not that much. Tends to fringe a bit more than the Canon in high contrast areas, but it's not too much worse. It's significantly lighter, which is good and bad. Will be interesting to see how it holds up to use and abuse. Overall I'm super impressed. Size-wise, it's about as big as the Canon 50 1.2L but significantly lighter.

Agree about the fringing part (though, it gets better when I blend down). I`m not sure of the build quality though (plastic feeling, don`t wanna loose this on the ground). Anyway, all in all a fine lens.
As mentioned before, if one have the D- version, I would keep it. It`s not that big a jump in picture quality. In my opinion :-).
got mine today. optical qualities seem very good. it's not as small as I'd hoped, holding it along side the Sigma 85/1.4 doesn't feel much different. it's nearly half the weight of the Sigma though (405g vs 768g, on my postal scale). I really like that it shares a filter size with my 35/1.4.
Its good to hear people are getting their shipment from Amazon. I'm still on the waiting list and hope to get a shipping notification soon (fingers crossed).
