Cameta has it in stock. But they sell it for $699. As an authorized dealer, I think that's very un-ethical. Very bad practice. Individuals or other stores (non-authorized dealers) may take advantage of the limited supply and high demand, but authorized dealer? Nikon should do something. Does Nikon allow their dealers to charge as much as they want?
to think i cancelled my pre-order for this lens!!i like the rokinon but MF is just really not for me thats why i pre-ordered it.i guess i can try and order it again
My sigma is in for the second time with af problems so I maybe be looking to replace it with this lens based on the absurd price tag of the 1.4G and success of the 50mm 1.8G.
Viewing the samples online I'm not totally convinced bokeh is quite up to any of the 1.4 lenses when the background has busy foliage but I'm waiting for some direct comparisons. Some impressions of AF accuracy would also be welcome, a fast 85mm is useless if it cannot consistently nail focus.
Precision Camera said they had an 85/1.8G in stock so I ordered it. They now report the lens out of stock so I am hopeful that it will make it's way towards me today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Whatever you do, don't change your shipping method on an Amazon pre-order for this lens. Moments ago I changed my shipping from 2 day to 1 day with the expectation that I might improve the date that I receive the order. My expected ship date went from as early as February 29th to March 13th. I called Amazon and they told me that I didn't loose my position in line as they don't know if they even fulfill customer orders based on the order that an order is placed (sorry for the confusing wording). Furthermore they told me that Nikon pulled the lens and it was no longer on Nikon's website. When I pointed out that the lens was on their website they informed me that they couldn't confirm that the lens on Nikon's website was the same as the lens that I had ordered. At that point I pointed out that the model # was the same on both websites. The customer service rep basically gave up at that point. I think Amazon just lost my business on pretty much anything that I can order somewhere else.
