For the record: 20-30MB jpegs, 76.5MB NEFs (according to DPR anyways).
Also, according to the Nikon site, there is a 1.2x mode shooting at approx. 25MP (still 3:2 natch) and a 15MP DX mode, as well as a 5:4 mode @ 30MP. For whatever all that's worth.
I'm REALLY tempted to try and swap my D3 for one of these, but I'm sure by the time I'd actually be able to get my hands on one I'd loose $500-1000 on it.
The resolution is great and all, but it still blows my mind that you're able to get a brand new Nikon with top-shelf professional autofocus for less than $3k. With the crazy sensor and new video capabilities I would've expected them to price it more at $4,000ish or ditch the pro AF (and they would've sold a ton that way). Even though I don't plan on upgrading cameras for a long time, it gives me warm fuzzies to see that Nikon seems to really put EVERYTHING it's got into a new camera versus Canon's long-standing reputation for avoiding stealing from their upper tier.
Example: The D800 is better in just about every single way than the (still current) $8000 D3x. Can you imagine Canon putting ANYTHING in ANY CAMERA that's better than their 1DX? Even if it's technologically or financially reasonable?
Side note - Canon updated their "entry-level" wide primes today. List prices of around $800. Wow.
