I actually wouldn't be surprised if Canon actually listens to its' customers on the new 5D (or whatever it will be called.). 45pt AF or 61AF, dual card slots, higher frame rate, better build quality, etc.
Whatever it is, as long as it makes the other bodies more affordable for me
Hm. What now? I get an info from a reliable source that info often came out as reality in the past ... my imagination:
Whatever is leaked or copied or lied (guess I asked for ECF 10 days ago) and after years of silence suddenly e "reliable source" is announced the 5D III will have ECF (at 19 AF points?).
I do not believe that Canon will destroy this amazing EOS 5 myth. All those specs might belong to a new body to fight against Nikons long overexpected "new" competitors against Canons milestone standard setting gear (yes, beat me!).
But if reality, it will not be a 5D follow up. It would be an averadge spec collected camera. No body with an own soul and spirit. But that is what 5D was and is.
An X-treme. Best IQ available WW at highest ISO and resolution. Only two competing bodies - both incredible overpriced. A great tool not needing any consumer snick-snack (even it would be fine to have) that just stands there with an only 6 year old history of unbelieveable success.
I would not expect that Canon would offer a cheaper 1D X and call it 5D X. That could be 7Ds life cycle. That camera is nice. And it may stay as a nicer one. But putting the 7D features into a recicled 7D body add 5Ds IQ to it and call it 5D (whatever) would kill a myth and make it just ordinary. Sex is fine. And Sex sells. But ordinary sex does not last longer than a couple of seconds ...

I sold my Nikon D7000 and crop lenses as I anticipated moving up to full frame with possibly a D800.. but if the Canon 5D III has improved AF AND ECF, it would be hard to ignore it...
Interesting times. Hopefully we see what it has sooner than later....
"Sorry can't give specific details in viewfinder blackout time and shutter lag, all I can tell you is I held a camera that felt like a 7D but it was no 7D . The mirror box was different and the move of the mirror had more 'slap' than the 7D. This was right after I signed a paper that told me I was not allowed to give specs of the camera I held..."
I am convinced 61 AF pts just exist in someone's wet dreams...
It still could happen. The 1D X has a digic 4 chip dedicated to AF duties. The proposed 5D2 replacement could still have many AF points but lack the dedicated digic chip, hence "if you want the best go with the 1D X" comment.

A better question...was it really a mistake that the iPhone got left in a coffee shop TWICE?

Canon employee field-testing new gears!! Cool.
What are the odds that one of those mystery cameras(or a lens) get left behind in the coffee shop accidentally by a Canon employee like those from Apple did with their pesky new iphones?
I'm still crossing my fingers for 8fps with a grip. I know it's the corny blah blah that I've complained about (why should a camera need a grip to do 8fps) but I'll settle for that.
That camera will be announced in February but the date is unknown yet, and probably it won't be on Feb 7. The existence of that camera, albeit currently in field testing stage, has now been taken for granted.

Canon rumors just posted a CR3, new high end dslr in late Feb. He's never been wrong on a CR3
That a dslr is coming soon is clear - he's not really saying anything more than eosfun. In fact, he is saying a lot less. His best guess specs are bullsh*t in my opinion, and no more accurate than my own best guess.
You guys are dreaming if you think canon is going to make a "true" 1dx light for $3k. If it is a 1dx light (63pt af, 8+fps, dual cards), it will be in the $4000-$4500 price range the 1d4 occupied. Otherwise, expect a FF 7d (with improved metering and movie) for $3k-ish.
