That a dslr is coming soon is clear - he's not really saying anything more than eosfun. In fact, he is saying a lot less. His best guess specs are bullsh*t in my opinion, and no more accurate than my own best guess.
You guys are dreaming if you think canon is going to make a "true" 1dx light for $3k. If it is a 1dx light (63pt af, 8+fps, dual cards), it will be in the $400-$4500 price range the 1d4 occupied. Otherwise, expect a FF 7d (with improved metering and movie) for $3k-ish.

I agree, he's got the worst track record for false products/specs/release dates of any of the major camera rumor sites. He seems to just throw random darts at the board hoping one will stick. I wish he had some industry sources like the guy at Nikonrumors seems to have.

As someone else on the site said I can promise CR3 that it will not be announced on Feb 6th nor 8th either.
He does get good info at times, but what was presented in the latest post was not much and not even very clear at that.
What I can CR3 is that EOSfun appears to have been disappeared....
The only thing that site is good for is to get the specs for any new camera about 12hrs before the actual press release. Other than that I agree that this guy is useless and his sources are next to useless also.
No guys, the post says there will be a high end dslr in late Feb. That's the CR3. He's never been wrong on a CR3. I don't know why there's so much animosity, he's a nice guy. I remember posting that there would be a new body in Oct, based on info from CR, and everyone said that was bs too. But then the 1DX was announced. Seems like everyone can get on here and spread rumors, but if you mention CR suddenly it's bs. The CR guy is a really nice guy, I don't understand all the animosity.

not so much fun for eosfun.

I am not gone Just reticent in my basement where some FM members here put me at 14 years . There are some posts in this thread from some bad readers who interprete my wordings irregular from what I tried to say. And then a few make EOSfun from suggesting I am a 14 years old bored kid? What do you expect from me Some more 'oracle talk' that fit just within the lines of a piece of paper with legal text and my signature on one hand, and my comment on reality, of someone who exposed the latest news in Kenya, that is under the freedom of speech for everyone on the other hand?
You'll find out soon what the source of all EOSfun has in mind for photogtraphers who love a compact full frame D-DLR with EF-mount. In the meantime shoot and have EOSfun!

I don't think anyone is accusing him of not being a nice guy. But the quality of the rumors on his site leaves much to be desired, esp. when compared to other sites like Nikonrumors and SonyAlphaRumors. I think part of the problem is his vetting process - he posts way too many contradictory rumors, probably because he wants to keep visitors returning to the site. And I don't think provisos like "CR1" and "CR2" are adequate substitutes for proper vetting.
As for the quality of the rumors, perhaps it's not his fault. Maybe Canon is just better at locking down NDAs or enforcing embargos. Or maybe he just doesn't have the insider contacts the other sites have. Whatever the cause, the bottom line is his rumors are a mess.

And thats where I disagree. His CR rating system is perfectly adequate and is quite clearly explained on his site. His rating system is in fact his way of vetting his sources. Information he gets from vetted, trusted sources are what are given the higher CR ratings. He simply chooses to put up other stuff that comes along the way. One could argue that it is diminishes the signal to noise ratio of his site, but I would say most intelligent people should easily be able to ignore the noise or see it for its entertainment value just fine.

Yes, and the picture of this high end dslr is shown way earlier in this thread, long before CR guy posted this CR3. All the CR3 says is a camera is coming sometime later in feb - that's not much of a revelation considering the aforementioned photo. He also tends to say that a lot; eventually he will hit it right and crow about it.

absolutely agree about him only being accurate within 24-48 hrs. However, I think the problem is that a lot of idiots send him wish lists and his exuberance takes over

Glad to hear that you are EOSfine, not that I had any doubts. Funny, first we had lonelygirl15, who was actually a 19 year old actress. Now people tried to say you are only 14, which by twisted analogy suggests that you are actually 18 and a highly precocious photography expert, I would say.
I'm shootin' and havin' fun. I'm sure I'll shoot better when I have the latest and greatest, but meanwhile EOS stuff is more fun than I would have guessed possible when I was a teenager (many ages ago).

Thanks! Glad to hear you are having fun with the EOStuff now. Personally I had my first EOSfun only since digital, the D30 actually. When I was a teenager of 12, my first real photofun was Exakta fun. As a newspaper boy I saved all my money to buy an SLR. The Exakta was the best I could afford, rapidly followed the same year by Rolleiflexes. The SL35 in it's year of launch and a few months later I discovered my true love for medium format and bought a young second hand TLR Planar 3.5F model 4. Someone with knowledge from the photoindustry should now be able to find out my real age

I think that would be a fair statement if any of his CR1 and CR2 rumors had any resemblance to reality. Those rumors read more like guesses and wishlists than credible, informed industry chatter. It almost seems like he posts every anonymous rumor he receives without any filtering. So IMO it's hard to ignore to noise when that's all there is, at least until it gets very close to an actual release.

What do we expect from you?
We expect the bored, bad, 14 year living in his wicked step mother's basement in Chicago to violate his NDA, get fined his life savings and thrown in jail for two months so that we may learn the exact specs two weeks ahead of time.
Sounds like a reasonable and fair trade no? Your freedom and life savings for our impatient thirst for ultimately semi-meaningless technical specs?
glad you have not been disappeared by Canon and are doing fine
and always thanks for the EOSfun

Let me tell you that the level of secrecy in Canon is very high. The person that headed up Canon's lens design group for 20 years said the first he knew of the cine lenses announced with the 4K video camera, was the day it was announced to the public. The whole lens design for these was only known at the very highest levels and this guy is pretty darn high up the food chain. We are contracted to Canon Japan and we are not allowed most stuff we need from them as we are not lifers, ie people who join Canon Japan for life; we may leave and tell their secrets. So even amongst divisions in Canon Japan their are a great many secrets. Other than those directly working on the 5D replacement only a handful would be privy to the specs.
