this looks awesome. so perfectly sized too. what was sony thinking not launching the NEX with a lens like this?

The Demi lens is a nice match for the NEX, but it's a single-coated lens with a tendency toward veiling flare that makes it finicky. Still, interesting -- and one of the few wider lenses on a fixed lens rangefinder/viewfinder. http://www.phobject.com/img/s1/v21/p484256245-4.jpg

Agreed. Samsung NX basically made a lens like this with their 30/2, and it's a shame Sony hasn't made something comparable, yet.
I'd love it, too. I think in part the tiny NEX body works against them -- the shallow depth means that even though the overall size of something like the 16/2.8 or the new Sigma 30/2.8 is comparable (body + mounted lens) the lenses don't look as appealingly pancake-y. I'll be buying the Sigma 30, but it's crazy that Sony didn't step into this gap first. I would have paid more than the Sigma's asking price for a Sony, and I sure wouldn't mind a little extra speed, without having to go to the Zeiss 24/1.8. A $400 30/2 or 30/2.4 would be pretty popular.

90 mm with extension tubes.. it gets a bit ridiculous:
I have the same set of $5 crappy screw on extension tubes. Has anyone found high quality bayonette tubes for NEX? I have the Contax tubes which are awesome, but they only fit my Contax lenses.

Snow in Calgary? How'd that happen.
Lightshow, you might want to consider using the head from an first-model Elmarit-M 90 on that set up. I haven't used it on bellows yet, but I did some shooting with it on tubes and it's a remarkable performer close up. 12 bladed iris to boot.
I have no idea how we ended up with snow...
I'll look into it, thanks.
Anyways, Some pics withe the Kominar:
On thin ice!!
After the rescue
The Kominar is quite sharp, lessening somewhat towards the edges, flare resistance is very low, to the point that any time you point the lens in the direction of the sun, the image starts to look like garbage(not good kind of flare)
A little later with my FD SSC 50/3.5 macro as a comparison.
Didn't see this lens in this thread, so here's two quick and dirty shots of Vivitar series1 105mm f2.5 on a NEX5n:
(excuse the poor quality, taken with an old p&s.)
