Not sure how to support this Canon R 800mm f8. Even Captain Jack does not have one. Are two tripods necessary? Anyone ever seen one in use? Might need to go over some magazines from the 1960s. On an older Gitzo series 5 the length brings about some wobble. From 1960 and available for around a decade. With the bellows length is over 2 feet 11 inches, focused beyond infinity. Pretty light at 4.18 lbs.

Those are quite elaborate release-mechanisms for the mount, the function is merely a feathered pin

Love how they look on the 5n! Makes me want to pick up an Exacta mount lens. How do you like your 135 Jena, Frank?

I'm not a pixelpeeper by birth but I like sharpness :-). So I was surprised, especially since this attic-find was full of dust and a cemented focusing ring (but no severe glass scratches though). Have not used it extensively but its looks want me to... It's also probably very cheap - if you can find one
Here are just two shots followed by a 100% crop, press right arrow.
Just to butt-in a little... I tried the Jena (CZJ) 135mm too and It's gawd-awfully sharp! Maybe the sharpest 135mm lens in my collection. And even tho the coating technology is from the days of past lore, there's is very VERY minimal fringing and CA. It kinda reminds me of a 135mm version of the Noct-Nikkor only sharper.... I think the old CZJ version is better than the newer C/Y mount versions - though I didn't test it for flare yet - shooting into the sun or anything...
