my 50mm 1.4 went from being a +7 to a -4. Huge difference and worth the pain on the ass testing procedure. I must have ran 5 country miles with a 50 foor usb extension from my backyard to the house. It was -10c lol

Canon will add it but only after Nikon does.

Yes! I was asking myself why Canon does not automatically provide everybody with such kind of simple software who buys a DSLR with MA option. I am sure they use a much more sophisticated version than FoCal Pro in their labs when they run calibrations - a simple version of this would be sufficient to have as consumer. Like DPP it could be added as freeware in the package, and Canon would save cost by reducing the amount of camera bodies and lenses sent in for calibrations.

It certainly is a bug in the current version. I had the same issue in Win7.

I can't seem to get a single test done without it trying forever to do it. All I keep getting is "trying to get Af info but failed to get cinsistent results", "shutter count exceeded 30" and so on. Inside, outside, doesn't matter. Also anytime I click the zoom on the semi auto test the program crashes. No response from their support guys either..

I had the same issue in the beginning, but it can be resolved by using more constant lighting. Worst is having sunlight changes (moving clouds in front of the sun!) during the testing. The second error message is common, too - the shutter count exceeding option can be changed in the setting menu, I recommend 50. If errors persist, completely restart the program and turn off/on the camera again.

I'd consider sending the lens to Canon to calibrate

I would just go with +2 and not worry about it.

+2 + ((+9 - +2) / 2) = +5.5 = ~ +5

The above calculation is totally without technical foundation, but it looks good.

[Edit: You were writing "not an average number like+5 or something?" as I was typing my equation; so we're obviously onto something here. ]

Bought the pro version after reading this thread and doing some other research. Didn't think my 135L and 35L could be any nicer. While they didn't need much the little they did definitely puts me on the bandwagon.

I just purchased the pro version also. I must be being blind, but where do you get the test target for the test? I could not find it as an option in the software or the website. In the FAQs it states that there is an option to print the target in the software but i am just not seeing it.

Edit: Never mind, its in the documentation pack

I am hoping he modifies it so can MA manual focus lenses on chipped adapters. Perhaps it will work as is though wouldhave to adjust the setting on the cam and not the chip. Probably the emf chip would be best for this.
Not sure wheter to go for the Pro or Plus version for 24-105, 70-300 L sigi 50/1.4
Most of my lenses are actually MF. He didn't answer an inquiry on the MA for chipped adapters though he was thinking of it on looking at his blog it appears.

I bet this will be even better with the 5DIII which has adjustments for both ends of a zoom.

The s/w if unable to get consistent A/F on either of my two 300 mm lenses ( 300 F4 IS & 300 f2.8 IS I). I am using 5 sec MLU, printed on high quality plain paper, testing outside and yet its failed twice. Anyone use this with 5D II & 300 f2.8 IS I successfully? I am going to try again tomorrow morning with bright sun (today was overcast but still plenty of light) and then raise an issue with the developer

Strange. My 300 f2.8 IS I was the smoothest run of any of my lenses (very consistent focus) . I did it on a 1D MK IV. The only thing I can think of is, did you use the larger target? I switched to the larger target for that lens.
