A few with the long FD glass while waiting for the winter snows of 2011 to arrive. Remember that we did have snow (a good bit too) in October, so it is not far away.
aside: Peter, good to see you're still rocking that 200L =P i'll get one of my own someday soon.. unless i opt for mac&cheese for a while to buy the 400 II first.. any idea why i can't see most of your photos, but i can see some of them?
Well it was a freaky warm 62* tonight so I decided to play with my new Yongnuo triggers. I picked up two sets off eBay for $50 shipped. This is a composite of approximately 50 images.
I think I did OK for my first time, I have some hot spots and an annoying shadow from the path light; however, I'm pleased. I can't wait to do this when there's snow on the ground to really make the house glow.

I am having a bit of a dry spell these days..........lousy light and rain ain't helping.
Did some duck shooting today just to maintain the swing of things.
Once ISO goes to 800, 1DsMkII can not quite sustain a very good IQ on this type of shots. It is not only the noise which gets in the way, simply there isn't enough light to create sufficient contrast and good colours on distant bird targets.
Handheld 1DsMkII + 800L.

Uhm...simply superb Peter! Can never get close enough to these guys! Although I suppose 800mm helps a bit.

Peter: The winter ducks are looking good here. I know what you mean about the crazy weather..it hit 62*F here Thursday, and today was a steady mix of rain-fog-sun, then repeat.
No white-stuff in the forecast as of yet .
Mr. Brown (UPS) just dropped off some more manual-focus FD glass; 300mm f4L in truly mint condition from a friend in NV. I'll get some shots of/with it over the weekend. Nice lightweight lens for my 5n (Sony), and whenever Canon comes out with a mirror-less digital. I'll run it on the 7D with one of my adapters for this side of the forums.

Nice shots guys. Peter, you're showing off again with that 800mm I also love those landscapes at the top of this page. Edd, this last shot really defines winter with a cute Titmouse and the snow accent. I'm still waiting for some snow here in Indiana. Last year we had 8" on the ground at this time and this December we have only had a trace of snow the entire month. I'm not really complaining that much though because we have had some brutal winters over the last few years and it's nice to get a break. See you guys in here soon as the weather is surely going to take a turn for the worse.
I just wanted to wish everyone the BEST during this holiday season, and enjoy your time with family and friends. I got a call from my daughter-in-law early this morning that set the tone for this weekend; my wife and I are going to be grand-parents next summer. More reasons than ever to upgrade the "gears" .
It was all of 18*F this morning when I took the old/new-to-me FD 300mm f4L out on the main deck for a few shots, and I was not disappointed. Consider the photo as my on-line greeting card to you all. And as it is said, thank you for your support during this past year while I was having a few of my "life-events"...
