wife signed for it... good thing I broke the news last night.
she wasn't too upset, since she now feels justified in keeping both pairs of boots she ordered.
I didn't bother pointing out that I doubt she can sell her boots for the purchase price after wearing them for a year or two.

We must live parallel lives because that's about how it went down in our house.

I went ahead and got one too. Now I've been distracted all afternoon deciding what I am going to sell to pay for it. I have too many lenses anyway I guess...

I've had a 70-200 2.8 L non IS for sometime. However, I haven't been shooting sports much recently and when I do, it's been golf. It's a pain to carry it around and the lack of IS is an issue. So, while everyone else was getting the version II IS, I just hit the canon store for the 70-200 f4 L. Under $1000 for a refurb after 15% off, including tax and shipping.

i may go the same way, except I'm selling the mint 24 I just bought to fund the 24-70, 70-200, 580 ex ii I bought this morning. Expensive morning.
Still I'm undecided if I want to pare down to just these and the 35L, though I do think if the quality is as outstanding as everyone says, the 135 may go...which is a shame, I love it.
On the upside, selling l lenses used right now isn't exactly the right time..so we have some time to decide!
I'm glad to see others in similar situation.. In fear of not jumping in the same boat with everyone else, I too placed the order, but from Adorama, seems like they finally caught up in the game /w the same price but with a slight better cash back program.

Yah I saw that deal.
If they had a better price on the other stuff I probably would have ordered...but it's hard to spend more money.
BH is starting to redeem themselves with me, they have good deals and respond in reasonable time...
That said, any cs based in NYC is usually bad, and the people they have manning the phones are not unfriendly, but terse...the people working in the store made me ban them for years. After leaving NYC I've given them a couple more chances and they are doing better...but they still need to train staff on manners.

I have thougt about every possible angle to justify it even at this price. Would have to give up my IIn to fund and I really would miss it too much. Maybe next year, Congrats to all who did get in on this.

Or even better, if you have a Upromise Mastercard, right now Adorama is 2% cashback, plus an additional 11% through Dec 31st. It's a real nice lens at around $1725
