Seriously though .. I never feel the tiniest bit of sadness when any celebrity or politician passes away. But I am genuinely sad about this guy though.
one of the greatest business leadership geniuses ever
he certainly left quite a mark, had the revolutionary foresight to try to bring the personal computer into the home for the first time to great success (although let us not forget tech geniuses such as Jay Miner of Atari/CBM who then quickly moved the world of computing into new realms of technologically advanced hardware, the likes of which are now, finally standard in everyone's home computer, or others such as RJ Mical, to just name one, who helped bring us arguably the best OS ever (and fully pre-emptive multi-tasking back in 1985!), sadly few know any of these names, but they were pure engineers and they worked for businessmen of poor vision, but true technical geniuses who perhaps one day will get their due recognition), had strong influences at Pixar and then brought us into the whole iWorld which brought Apple back from the brink and single handedly over turned entire gigantic industries and turned Apple into one of the strongest companies in the world with an elegant product line. He has certainly left a huge mark.
Do you think the folks at Polaroid thought the same thing when Edwin Land stepped out of his role at Polaroid? That is what I would worry about as an Apple investor.

i wouldn't have any immediate worries, they may even sell more for a half year at least
i imagine they will carry on fairly well for some time, of course with tech, things can eventually change, it remains to be seen
He was a great businessman. He'll be sadly missed by those that knew him, and I hope his family is dealing as favorably as possible with their loss. As far as Apple, I can't imagine that Mr. Jobs was the "entire" brain behind it's innovation. Apple will continue to advance and develop, just as other large companies have. If Apple does fail, they did so because they didn't learn anything fron Steve...

Land had some screw-ups and I knew Polaroid was in trouble when they came out with that instant 8mm film not so long before video cassettes. I think people were happy with Job's profitabiliiy until the last.

This is a sad day. For many of us he brought a sense of style and grace to the tools we use. There are very few in any business who make that kind of difference.
