It is no surprise, but I'm not sure how that affects Canon.

It affects the many photographers who acknowledge the importance that Jobs' innovations have had in their work, from those who use the iPhone in so many ways as they shoot in the field to those who use Apple hardware as the underpinnings of their digital darkrooms.
Besides, Jobs, in the view of most who think about such things and however you may personally feel about him or his company or its products, has been one of the most important figures in American industry, the computer revolution, and the world of design in perhaps a half century or more.
I guess we all saw this happening sooner rather than later. What a remarkable run, especially the last fourteen years. For those of us who've been using Apple products it has been a wonderful ride. I wish the company well and extend condolences to Steve's family. He was still a young man...

Obviously I don't get it, but I'm not into the marketing side of things.

Hmm maybe because a bunch of canon users who are on this forum thought this could be worth talking about?
Why does it matter that much anyway - seems like people like to play moderator
R.I.P. Steve!
I get it...if it's breaking the rules, it's okay, as long as you think it's "worth talking about".
The real moderators have all but given up on these forums.
Don't get me wrong, I've got an ipod, an iphone4 (that conveniently auto corrects my name from Rob to Ron, that everytime I type shit, it makes it shut, or shot, and quite a few other words (hell is always he'll), and a few other apple devices. yeah, I get he was big in the computer/tech world, but it still isn't relevant to the Canon forums.
Yes, it sucks for him. It sucks worse for everyone of his friends and family. It sucks he won't be developing. I get that.
A bunch of people died at the nursing home this week...should we post it too?
Because of this man I got rid of my tape player, CD player, walkman, 35mm cameras, and laptop pc. Thanks for changing the world and move us toward the digital age. R.I.P. Mr. Jobs.

Take it easy man Regardless of whether the original thread breaks the rules or not, it would serve no purpose to turn it into a heated exchange. I could see that you are frustrated with such threads. So in that case I think the reasonable strategy would be either to contact the moderators or send a PM to the OP and politely share your concern. Calling out a thread this way only creates bitterness and does not serve constructuve purposes.
I would hate to derail this thread or any other thread with stuff like this, so I would not make any further comments in this regard. And I would request that you do the same if possible.
56 is way way too young to go. Nevertheless Steve certainly left a huge mark in the sand for such a short life. As a musician and photog I use Apple hardware and software daily and my creative life has been better than ever. RIP Steveo...
