Thanks! I'm shooting half blind today, as my eyes are dilated to 12-brownie levels after an eye exam. At least now I know why I couldn't focus on anything: My prescription was way off! :-P Once I get new lenses I should be corrected to 20/15! :-D
For about 30 seconds I thought, "I can't find any spirals anywhere!" Then I realized I can hardly NOT find them everywhere. I've gone spiral crazy! :-P
Oh, dang! I knew I'd forgotten something in that latest shot! ;-P Yeah, yeah... if I can't put one in my shots, I should just STFU about her. I'm getting the boys all excited and not delivering.
Anyway, I've been doing some reading over at kenrockwell.com. He has what amounts to a whole Photo 101 class online! I'll try to incorporate what I'm learning, and see if I can get some WOW shots for y'all to C&C.
Now, the naked lady in the centre, providing she was young and beautiful, would make my eyes spiral. Sorry, just read Ramorak's previous post but I just can't edit it out. GRRRR
A really nice shot. I particularly like the the double spiral created by the shadow.
Lovely spiral but I think I'd prefer if all the flower was in focus. I realize that it was probably intentional to emphasize the spiral aspect but as I'm used to seeing the pistil in focus as well (in other pictures) the whole pic thus is a bit hard for me to digest.
Good point Yakim. I have beheaded it for you. If you can forget that you ever saw the pistil/stamen, does this work, or is it too weird that the central tube just cuts off in line with the petal? Next time I'm shooting, I'll either stop down or rip out the protruding intruders! ;-)
Well, you'll have to check the history. I've decided to go with the simple coral vine.
I really like this image, It's my preferred shot from your selection but like Craig I also like the lock of hair. I think the composition works really well too. Good job.
Thanks everyone for taking the time to comment on my photos; y'all have been a huge help and inspiration to me. I've been shooting since I was six years old, and thought I had a pretty good idea of how to make a good photo... heh. This week has felt like a good jump start to my photo chops, but also an eye-opener to how much I still have to learn. :-)
