Quite tempting actually. If th eplace is outside of Berlin it maybe isn't in worse condition than the images show... and the buildings and the exterior are smashing rather than smashed I think.

Carsten, again, my thanks for this meeting. Looking at your pictures and Rudi's, it is clear to me that I must improve. To this end, next time, I will try and come on Friday night, and bring my tripod. That way, I will be able to go out and shoot early Saturday morning. And when we are all together, I can learn more because I can shoot less, but maybe better.
Philippe, you must be joking. It is definitely me, who has to learn. Quite honestly, my knowledge about Zeiss and Sony NEX gear is rather superficial. I envy the clarity and detail resolution of some of your shots, like the church tower in the Nicolai Viertel.
Problem is, my lingering interest in Zeiss lenses has been pushed further to a point, that I should save for it now.

It is possible to get in, but I think there are some restrictions. Among the UrbEx set (Urban Exploration) it is legendary, and there are some extremely interesting parts. Unfortunately, graffiti has apparently started now. It is a bit outside Berlin, so we would need to plan cars. I can almost certainly drive one car, for 3 extra seats. Bernhard also has access to one, but I am not sure if he can make it.
We weren't actually in Tiergarten this time, although we did discuss it. We could go there, or Tempelhof, or both. I am not sure if we can get inside the Tempelhofer buildings though. We could try to determine that in advance....Show more →
I will come with a Q7, so I can pick up up to 4 people. Beelitz or Technikmuseum sounds both very interesting. But I'm not so interested in Tiergarten and Tempelhof. Alternatives could be Potsdamer Platz (at sunset) or Potsdam /Sanssouci.
Potsdam /Sanssouci or/and Pfaueninsel would be great. A small ferry will take you over to Pfaueninsel. Great in October when the foliage is starting to change color.
The Olympic Village also looks interesting. On the official page they mention tours, but do not say if you can arrange permission to walk around taking photos. Do you know if this is possible?
Are the 6-5-4-3-2-1-0 preferences in order of 6 most important, 0 least? If so, my preferences are:
7 Beelitzer-Heilstätten
6 Olympisches Dorf
5 Gärten der Welt
4 Potsdam/Sanssouci/Pfaueninsel
3 Tempelhof
2 Technikmuseum Berlin
1 Botanischer Garten
0 Tiergarten
I visited the Olympisches Dorf back in 2007, wait a moment...
...got it, I knew I had an image on-line from that Dorf: http://photos.imageevent.com/jonas_b/fotoforum2011mixed/fmaltgear2011/OS_Dorf-36_513.jpg
Hmm, I wouldn't have processed it like that today. (I also don't spell Berlin with an o...). Anyway, I imagine the place is different today. Four year sago it was a very un-developed tourist spot with no explanations, no historical facts (got to Google that back home). The image is taken , as it says, behind a great dining room, an oval building.
It was nice walking around there as one could easily see how all the athletes must have meet and enjoyed the event. At the same time I have no idea at all about how Jesse Owens and other black sportsmen felt at the village. Some sources say they were more equal in Europe than they felt coming back home again. I don't know.
Das Olympisches Dorf, one of many things making Berlin so interesting.
This is my list:
7 Beelitzer-Heilstätten
6 Technikmuseum Berlin
5 Gärten der Welt
4 Olympisches Dorf
3 Potsdam/Sanssouci/Pfaueninsel
2 Tempelhof
1 Botanischer Garten
0 Tiergarten
That is one row, 3 shots in portrait format with the ZF.2 50MP. I use Autopano Pro, although I am sure that Photoshop CS4 would have done a good job on this one.
I did some research on the internet regarding possible foto locations in Berlin.
It seems that you need a permission for Beelitz Heilstätten which will cost 300€ per day (per group not per person): http://evermoredesign.de/silenthalls/
An interesting alternative could be the "Heilstätten am Grabowsee". A 4 hour visit would cost 30€ per person including a foto permision. I already wrote an email to the organizer asking whether a visit on the 8th would be possible: http://www.go2know.de/Fotofuehrungen/Heilstaetten-am-Grabowsee::184.html
I would be interested in the Heilstätten am Grabowsee, personally. I am curious to hear what the answer will be. I am not super-interested in the Panoramapunkt, but if everyone else goes, I will come. The Eisfabrik looks interesting, but possibly a bit smaller? I guess that wouldn't keep us much more than an hour or two.
I'm afraid I can't attend the meeting in Berlin on Oct. 8th.
Today I got the info that next week the metal plate will be removed from my leg(broken in March on a photo trip to the Lofoten). I have to stay at home for at least 10 days after this surgery.
I wish you all a great meeting in Berlin and have fun.
When I get an answer regarding the Heilstätten am Grabowsee I will forwad the email to Carsten.
What a pity. I don't know you in any other way but from having followed the Lofoten threads, silently wishing I had been able to go there. So, I have been looking forward to meeting the man behind the beautiful Lofoten images.
I hope everything goes well with the surgery and your leg!
