Ok, let's try this again.

Phase One IQ180. 1/8 sec, f8, 200 ISO.

Gah, that is a crop! I guess she is a bit cold A very small amount of moire near the upper right corner. Can Capture One defeat that?

I notice that these are shot at 1/8s. Isn't that a bit risky with a human subject? At what ISO do the results start to suffer in DR and noise?

Yes, she was a bit cold, as we had two fans blowing on her in a cold studio. We did have two heaters going full blast on her too! The moire was a little disappointing, but the IQ180 back was a pre-production unit, so I have to give it the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully the engineers at Phase One have addressed the issue with the production units. I didn't get to test it as much as I wanted to, but I did just get the IQ 140, so I can do some extensive testing against our H4D-50.

1/8 of a second is very risky...most of my shots were blurred, as can be expected, but we wanted some movements in her dress. As for DR & noise, I did not get to use the IQ180 as much as I wanted to, but with the IQ140, the noise seems really good at 400 ISO so far. I will post more images later as soon as I get some decent shots.

This is TMAX 400 pushed to 1600 in Xtol, shot handheld on an RZ 110mm wide open at f/2.8, so of course it's going to look torturous. Nonetheless, here you are.

That looks very much like scanner noise as opposed to film grain. I think you'll get a nicer result if you just let the blacks be pitch black, because no developer can get anything out of such low exposed areas.

Yes Edd, I do, and thank's a lot! It's simply fantastic to be able to get this image quality from such a light and small camera. Even if I mostly stop it down quite a bit, it's very sharp straight from f/3.5.

The Bessa III is only 1000 grams with lens and everything. It's flat enough to fit in any small shoulder bag or even in the pocket of a large coat or jacket. The high price is all worth it, in my opinion. Build quality and precision is great and there's no competition on the market if you want a folder with a great, bright viewfinder.
The lens is also stellar. There's a tiny bit of barrel distortion and curvature of field, but from f/8 and on it's tack sharp to the very corners. OOF rendering is among the best I've ever seen from any lens.

Thanks phillip - the 43mm lens is what dreams are made of, even if you have to use the annoying auxiliary viewfinder.
