I was hoping to post in here sooner rather than later, but unfortunately my Mamiya M645 arrived having lived in a smoking environment. I need to relube the lens, re-cover the camera and possibly source a new mirror

Mostly the smooth transitions between the different shades of gray and, deep, rich blacks (at least when developed in Caffenol C M) and crisp whites. The grain was pretty fine and it seemed to scan very good.

Do you mean that your equipment is holding your back and medium format will liberate you? Or do you mean that you suffer from gear lust?

Without a doubt the latter....I'm not good enough to take advantage of what I already have let alone MF

150mm is my longest MF lens and it is a PITA to focus:

Mamiya 645 200/2.8 APO on the 5D classic.
I'll probably regret it but, I'm not using this lens enough to justify keeping it so it is on the market in the B & S forum.

Nice one!

I can only imagine how difficult it is to use that 150 on the Mamiya, especially with teeny tiny frame lines! I don't think I'll ever shoot that focal length

Pentax 6x7 + 75mm + Delta 3200. Amazing how little grain there is for 3200 film....gotta love medium format

It's incredibly challenging to get what you want in focus wide open within 15 feet or so. I wish Mamiya had made a 100mm lens instead of an 80mm lens (it's too close to 65mm to justify having both).

Agreed re the 150 is a bitch to focus wide open. The problem is the rangefider base is too short for a lens that long, unfortunately.

I think the 80 and 65 are both woth having though, they draw quite differently. I do wish there was something faster than f/4 though. A nice 110 f2.8 or so would have been sweet.

Still easily the best all around portable medium format system out there , i think. (mamiya 7)
