All great shots Will, but number 3 is just amazing. I liked them so well that I bought one for myself on the B&S just today. Thanks for the nudge pal
btw, I'm coming out your way this summer on vacation for 2 weeks
Thanks a lot, Jonathan. The great deals on them currently have me thinkin' of a 2nd copy...
ya know, in case something every happened to this one. Shoot me your dates etc.
when you get 'em firmed up...I'll give ya da fitty cent tour
Wait until ya see the one where he parachutes in, hits the ground, rolls a couple times and comes up with camera in hand to capture a Sandhill rising against a sunrise
Greats shots guys--Will, Gaylon and the rest that have contributed. I have a 70-300 VR arriving this weeks from another FMer and hopefully I have learned my lesson (finally) and will keep it this time. I have always felt that if you rated all the Nikon lenses it would be hard to top this one in the "best bang for the buck category."

Welcome back, Alan...and thanks! Many think because they have one of the 70-200 VR's
they don't really "need" this lens anymore. I was going back over files DX/FX taken with
this glass and thought idiot, what'd ya sell it for. 3rd time's the charm, I guess.
At twice the price...it probably should, but I kinda doubt it. Somebody send me one,
I'll put it thru unbiased paces. AF speed should favor the 70-300 as well as low light captures.
14/19 vs 12/17 elements/groups in the latter. Be fun to go head to head. Send PM for my address...
nice stuff from this lens. I recently picked one up as well, the price was right for this great piece of glass. I shoot a lot of adventure sports images and usually lug around the 70-200mm vr1, while beautiful it also gets a bit heavy. I tried the 70-300 VR and was impressed with the quality and the way it handled. This lens an both my Nikon af 17-35mm and Nikon MF 55mm macro has become my kit for hikes and water adventures now.

Deebo, My cedar-strip kayak and I would love to be puttin' in those waters shown in your second image - beautiful place
It's absolutely gorgeous in person. It's up in the north woods of Wisconsin. Boulder Junction to be exact. I make it up there at least once a year for a week during the summer. The getaway helps keeps me sane!!
