First time using tubes, should of watched a couple video's on how to, and also read the first post in this thread, oh well. Now I know next time to stop down, I thought I had to keep it wide open. It was definitely a learning curve for me.

What brand of tubes are recommended for a digital Canon shooter looking to give macro a try? Are Canon tubes better than 3rd party, or are they all pretty much the same?

Tolerance might be better, but with macro, not going to matter much. I used a cardboard tube for a while before I bought proper tubes.
I believe that the Apo-Sonnar 135 performs well at close distance and can focus fairly close (1:4 if I'm not mistaken) on its own. So I it should be a good candidate for use with tubes. Certain lenses that are not optimized for close focus show more spherical aberration than desired when used with tubes, but I don't think your Zeiss lens is one of them.

Anyone ever used a Zeiss 135mm Apo Sonnar before with an extension tube?
I've been browsing and shopping macro lenses and prices all week, then realized I have a Canon 25mm ii extension tube in my extra bag. The thought came to try it on my Zeiss 135mm, one night while looking at Zeiss 100mm Makro-planar lenses online.
This shot is more for utility. I wanted to see where it brought the lens to. It placed the lens about 14 inches from my gear bag. My guess is that I will prefer 1:2 type photos more than 1:1, so maybe one tube is plenty.
