You guys still sharing photos? Wonderful. Deep respect to the folks keeping this thread moving along... I guess Harold is the main man. Well done.
I'll drop a couple of photos for old time sake. These were taken with the Nikon 105 f/2.5 AI-s with a PK-13 extension tube mounted on a Nikon Df... an old friend. Hand held, of course.
Being house-bound because of the coronavirus, my one great pleasure each day is a solitary walk through the neighborhood and carrying a camera with an extension tube mounted makes every walk an adventure. I'll likely drop by again. Thanks everyone.
OK, I'm throwing my two cents in here. I have a number of macro lenses, I have used with and without extension rings. I thought I would try using on of my favorite primes, the Zeiss 85mm 1.4 for a few shots with a 25mm extension ring. I grabbed a couple of black clothes pins which I use on set and stood them up. I shot verticals from a distance of about 15" to the sensor. The clothes pins themselves are about 3 1/2 inches tall. The three images were shot to show the differences from wide-open to stopped down and the effect on the depth of field. The prime point of focus was the same on all three, the circular part of the spring.

I took a brief look and didn't find anything on macro.
However, you have some very nice images and it is worth a look.
Harold
Thanks for looking Harold, I appreciate the comment.

There are several posts on there that are macro centric - the most recent one - "Yup, I'm Still Here" "Wide & Wild" a review of a 15mm macro lens, "See How This Stacks Up" about focus stacking for macro. "Too Close for Comfort" is a macro primer.

I'm loving this stuff, makes me look incredibly busy for over an hour even if I only produce one image!

Anyone ever used a Zeiss 135mm Apo Sonnar before with an extension tube?
I've been browsing and shopping macro lenses and prices all week, then realized I have a Canon 25mm ii extension tube in my extra bag. The thought came to try it on my Zeiss 135mm, one night while looking at Zeiss 100mm Makro-planar lenses online.
This shot is more for utility. I wanted to see where it brought the lens to. It placed the lens about 14 inches from my gear bag. My guess is that I will prefer 1:2 type photos more than 1:1, so maybe one tube is plenty.
