I finished my Frankenstein of the two 105mm 2.5P lenses. I had one with a chewed up focus ring and one with fungus. The plan was to take the focus ring off one and place it on the other. I had my friend cut the ring to specs because there was no factory replacement ring available. I then had to put the lenses back together. If you attempt this with a scalloped lens I can tell you that the greatest challenge is the little spring that works the aperture. Patience and a steady hand is required. Be sure NOT to stretch the spring and take it off very carefully. Replacing it is no easy feat either. 
Very cool Ray, you could start a cottage industry to lens mods for all of us!
