Thus stopping down 3 stops on the Leica comes as no surprise that it would be playing nice compared to the Mamiya @ WO 2.8


So if vignetting was an important consideration then a fast lens that can be stopped down may be a better choice than a medium format lens which is already relatively slow. If you start at F2.8 and need to stop down further to improve vignetting then you might be in an aperture range you don\'t want to be in.

My point is just that any advantages re vignetting are modest and not a significant \'selling point\' for mediun format glass IMHO, there are better options.

Mamiya 80/1.9 N Vignetting (F1.9-F8):






Mamiya 80/2.8 N Vignetting (F2.8-F8):






In the above examples the very centre of each test image is exactly the same as the border around them.
