That raid array at 18TB is $2999.00, with 6 3TB drives. My 5D was $2100 with 5 4TB drives. The Drobo gives you much more flexibility when larger drives arrive as well. After more than a year of beta on three Drobos, I think I trust them and am going to standardize with the 5D. I\'ll probably get an 8 bay when they offer Thunderbolt connectivity.
