yes, the 5D mark II images can be cropped more when processing RAW
I had 7D and switched to 5D II
I tried two early 7D\'s and could not find a solution to a few items
-- crops did not hold up well for IQ
-- grainy at ISO 100/200 (most noticable in sky)
-- white dots and noise at higher ISO (800+)
Maybe these were bum 7D\'s. I am not sure. But I do get better birding pics with 5D II even if I end up with fewer pixels. The images have better color, contrast, and less noise.
The 1D IV seems like a good compromise for crop and IQ
