Wow! Great capture indeed! I tried last night but too much clouds. Got the partial eclipse but then then the moon disappeared (light too low to penetrate clouds). Merry Christmas!

Best I have seen so far. Very nice. I assume the 300 was shooting through the borg piggybacked on the Nexstar? I also assume the 300 is attached through the visual back and not a digiscope type setup?? Very nice.

Hey Jose! Merry Christmas to you!
Wonderful capture here, man.
Nothing by gray mud in the sky in Arkansas, so this is a treat!

Perfect....good isolation. No "DeadCenteritus" You can see the stars around the capture......all the elements of a great eclipse picture.

Well done!!!

Wonderful Image Jose. Beautifully composed and executed.
What location did you take it from. All we could see in Phoenix were clouds. lol

Well done... and an example of why I just watched it rather than trying to photograph it. ;-)

Fabulous photo!

I am thinking about getting a telescope with a motor drive that will accept a camera mount. I'd like to be able to photograph the moon and planets. Any suggestions?

Thanks! Planets are tiny, they require a lot of magnification. On the other hand, they are very bright and can be photographed from anywhere. A nice system for planets could be based around a Celestron 9.25 telescope - not too expensive and it's a very fine one at that, coupled with a web cam or specialized video camera. Video is best for planets because you can run it at 10-frames per second. Shoot some minutes and then use software (Registax) that throws out the images ruined by turbulence (usually around 70~90%!) and the same software will stack and process the remaining ones.

Thanks again!

Jose
