The upper control deck and bottom surface of the camera has been cast from magnesium alloy, (semi-solid metal casting), to create a high-precision body with high rigidity. All dials on the upper control deck are also fabricated from metal.
Premium quality is evident in every detail. The chassis has been finished with high-quality leather accents, allowing you to indulge in pure photographic satisfaction.
You won’t want to put it down. http://www.finepix-x100.com/x100/

If it has a real metal body and not just metal coloured plastic, or a thin cosmetic layer of metal over plastic, I'll buy one for sure. No practical reason for it other than I like the retro feel of a solid metal camera.

just read more on DPR. Top and base plates from solid magnesium, all metal dials. I would have preferred a full metal construction but this is very encouraging indeed for this class of camera. These will sell like hotcakes I think.

Not sure what the point of this is with the 1 lens option.
Sure it will be just what some people need, but to me it doesnt serve any purpose.
Looks beautiful though

Wow, it looks even better in the footage. Forgive me while I go drooling in the corner.

I've got ... no, my partner has... an EP-1 with a 17mm f2.8 (34mm lens) that I take everywhere. It's purpose is evident to me.

If we look at almost every post on here and the "Alt forum" and everywhere else the X-100 is being discussed, everyone wants it. That would seem purposefully enough to me.

Hey Nik (while sitting in the Qantas Club, Sydney):

What do you hear, price-wise? $1,700 USD seems very high to me, considering the EPL2 with the finder as the obvious alternative (or the GF-1, 20/1.7, and finder). That's a huge premium for style, don't you think? cheers, kit

it seems overlap with my GF-1 + 20 1.7, I don't think I will get one at that price.

while i like RF style bodies I do not find the X100 body beautiful (compare to Nikon SP, Leica etc)... seems I'm the only one here.

hard to believe they make that APS-C sensor just for X100, maybe they have other designs as well. Maybe we will see a D7000 body with the X100 sensor?

so being a fxed lens with a sensor as large as this, what about sensor dust?
I know there has to be a way for dust to get IN...it always seem to

I see a LOT to like in that profile. If it handles half as good as it looks, it should be a big success.

A good development, in any case.

BALLS!

EDIT: the most awesome thing about this camera is that I can rough up the rubber, put a few scratches on it, and tell my wife I picked it up at a garage sale for $25.

Oh Todd. Don't give half the members here any ideas .

The more I look at it, the more I want one. The 24/1.4 was just firmly placed in the backseat of my desiremobile.

I have to agree. It's actually pretty ugly. It even has what appears to be a phoney film rewind switch. WTF?

Yes guys....it is a very "ugly" camera and "an overlap" with the GF-1....
Do not buy this camera please...!
this way I may have a better chance off getting one as soon as it comes out...!

Looks awesome. I think it would have been a total giant killer if Fuji had released it with interchangable lenses and a lens range consisting of: 23mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm f/2-f/2.8 pancakes. I don't know if it's possible to make such pancake lenses, but I would love them on this kind of camera.

true, but 35 eq is perfect for me. they couldnt start with better lens. It is also promise that price/quality/size/durability will be perfectly balanced. With 12Mpix and good lens you can also crop a lot so for me it easily reads as 35-70eq.

As retro looking as this camera is, maybe a timer lever?
