...but it finally happened. I've been wanting to get a capture of two Hummingbirds perched together and I've had two opportunities but I wasn't quick enough. Last Sunday I got lucky as a juvi male landed on a stick...than an adult female landed next to him.

The juvi male has been feeding himself from flowers and a feeder...he's actually a pig and a bully towards the other Hummingbirds.

But I guess if he feels he can get a free meal he'll try as he did when the adult female landed next to him.

He begged and actually locked his beak onto hers but she never fed him....the video I'm going to post shows him getting frustrated and grabbing her chest feathers.

7D, 500mm f/4L, manual mode, 1/250" @ f/13, ISO 400, spot metering, focus point on the Hummingbird on the right.

Great interacting captures. Your video really shows the "tough love" of the female. Nice going and keep it up. Our adult hummers have migrated south and the little ones are fighting amongst themselves.

getting frustrated and grabbing her chest feathers Like that ever works!

Congrats on getting the two together, I don't think I have ever seen two on a perch together in person. Nice couple of shots of the couple and an interesting movie clip. I have never seen on pull on another's feathers like that.

Congrats Duane , these are FANTASTIC! To get two hummers in a frame both in focus doing anything is quite a feat.

I can dream of such a shot.

Wildlife photography does very little for me, but it's nice to hear you nailed a shot you've waited 2 years for, and it's a very good image too.

Very nice, Duane, and congratulations!!! I've gotten two hummingbirds in one frame while they were buzzing around - and not too well focused. But I've never gotten a shot like yours. Definitely worth the wait.

The video was super too. So nice to see the action!! Thanks for sharing.

I am lucky enough now to see a few hummers stopping by my feeder very early and later evening though I don't see them together.
Neat shots and glad it happened for you

The chest on the one on the left seems a bit bright to me?? Very sharp and a bit edgy?

Congrats Duane on our patience and persistence in getting these super shots. I recently got a Swift in flight after trying for two years too so I know about the wait and the great satisfaction of nailing it......eventually
