Alright, before anyone tells me I'm crazy for getting too close, let me just say that these two are safely located in an enclosure....so I was not in any danger 'cause I'm sure that's what you were thinking........or not But for the record, they are 'captive' by definition. The mama parent of both of these were killed. They've been raised from cubs since they would not have survived on their own. One is a coast grizzly and the other an inland bear. Coastal grizzlies tend to be larger overall due to differences in diet.

Henrik these are really special shots. It is easy to think that they could be very friendly and then you see the intensity in their eyes and the size of those claws
I really like these tight shots, great work buddy and what a thrill it must be to be that close

Thanks Karl. I was pretty fortunate that they were playing when I got there. We have cooler weather now and that seems to make them a little more active.

Jealous am I! Saw some Griz and Black while working in Yellowstone....but thank goodness never close enough to see the claws like that. Nice!
Yeah, wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of those claws, that's for sure.
Working in Yellowstone - now that must have been something. I'm heading there for the 3rd time next week.
