I'm looking to sell a canon 17-35 2.8. The lens looks and works great, no signs of wear or abuse and i love having 2.8 to shoot at night. I'm only selling it to upgrade to a 16-35 mk I. I need the weather seal of the 16-35, thats the only reason i'm selling this lens. The lens takes great images even at 2.8. Pictures below as promised, 2.8 100% crops on a 5d MKII. The drawing is at 17mm and below it is the 100% crop of that image.
I did some optimum aperture tests shooting a $5 bill and some of my wifes artwork and the results were stunning, 2.8 is better than ok at 100% crop and by f4 at 17mm it was no different than the many copies of the 17-40's that i've owned. I did some more tests tonight and at f4, 5.6, 8.0 and 11, this was as sharp as my 24-70 which will cut you, its so sharp.
I picked it up with only the lens caps but i bought an original genuine canon hood for it from adorama. Price is $745 shipped insured and paypalled (I'll eat the $22 in fees)
