I recently picked this up from reciprocal and it's a wonderful body but I was caught up in the idea of a D3x when I really need a D3s and can't afford both. I love the huge output for landscapes, but miss the higher iso like I had in the D3 and would like to get some video too.
It's in excellent condition with only a couple slight scuffs on the bottom from mounting it. Currently about 16,500 clicks, I've only put maybe 400 clicks since getting it. You can look in my post history for that purchase and photos but I'll post new ones Friday night if it hasn't sold. My understanding is this was originally purchased in Japan mid 2009, not that it matters since a USA warranty would have expired by now. It has the box and all accessories.
Like all the stuff I sell, it's as advertised or I'll take it back and refund (less any PP fees).
$5500 net to me, includes insured shipping. I'll do normal PP (+3%) from a verified user (only), or the various other forms of payment and ship after funds clear. CONUS only unless you have lots of positive feedback.
I think the fact it was originally a JDM body may present an issue for out of warranty service from Nikon USA. As you have pointed out the warranty is a non-issue as it would have expired anyway. The bigger issue is that Nikon USA are a PITA and refuse to service any grey body even on a fee for service basis.
I don't have an interest in the D3x, but if I did I would not hesitate to buy this camera. NikonUSA is not the only place to receive authorized Nikon service in the U.S.
I taked to Nikon USA today and they will service all Nikon equipment but a receipt is required so they know it originated from Nikon, local or overseas. They won't provide warranty service on grey market. They will service warrantee on international if it was purchased overseas from a dealer, this one was. Regardless, it's past the warranty. I didn't get the receipt from the original owner, but have asked for it. Not sure if he has it.
and yes, there's always APS.
All that said, I'm selling the body, not the service. Please don't clutter the B&S post with arguments about service, that's better placed in the Nikon forum.
I'm in no hurry to sell, it takes wonderful photos and I'm sure someone will want it eventually
I have a Nikkor lens purchased in Japan that was serviced by NikonUSA. They had no problem servicing it as I sent along a copy of the warranty card. They serviced it for free too.
FYI -- starting tomorrow (9/15) I'll be out for several days at a time so please keep that in mind if you PM me on this. To answer your next question... Yes, I'll be adding clicks to this body while I'm gone. I can provide an updated count to interested buyer(s).

FWIW: from my experience, when you do a 'refund' through Paypal (within the allotted time period) there is no Paypal charge - your fees are also refunded...which is nice.
