p.1 #1 · FS: Strobist-Vivitar 5600 and 4600 Flash system
Hey guys/gals,
More stuff for sale...
Here's a pair of pretty well decked out Vivitar flashes, one a 5600 and the other a 4600 system flash. Most people aren't familiar with these, so here's some info:
The 5600 is sort of like a 285 on steroids. It features:
Automatic mode, TTL mode, and manual full power, 1/4 and 1//16th power. Has tilt/bounce/zoom head. Head can be removed...Vivitar made different heads for these, but the standard zoom head is the only one I can remember seeing. Has lighted LCD display to show ISO, distance, zoom, aperture. Has audio notification of recycle (can be turned on or off fortunately). For TTL mode, these use different modules for different cameras...this one has a Nikon module that should work with older film SLRs (not iTTL digital). Automatic mode work surprisingly well with digital cameras though. I'm including a Vivitar DSC-3 off-shoe cord (3 feet) that replaces the module on the bottom of the flash. Also included is a Stofen type diffuser. Uses standard Vivitar battery packs. Shoe voltage was around 16 volts, which is probably too high for digital cameras unless you use a SafeSync. Cosmetically in EX condition, functions great. $69 delivered to the lower 48.
The 4600 is the little brother to the 5600. Same TTL control, and automatic modes. Manual fires full power. This one also comes with a Nikon module. Comes with off-shoe cord and a pair of hard plastic bounce diffusers that fit into a slot in the collar around it. One is full width, one is about half width to allow more ceiling bounce. Head can swivel and bounce just like the 5600. In fact, as far as I can tell either head will fit on either body...I know they will physically fit, but I've never tried to actually use it with the 5600 head. The electrical contacts are the same, so I'd guess it would work fine. It's a bit more compact than the 5600, uses the same Vivitar batttery pack. Has a couple of small marks on the front, but otherwise looks great. Functions great. $35.00 delivered.
Get both for $89.00 delivered. Here's one catch...I only have one battery holder for them. First person to buy gets the holder. New ones can be found on ebay for a couple of bucks. The radio triggers in the pictures aren't included...just used to show the flashes work off camera fine.
If you have any questions, just shoot me a PM.
Thanks,
Scott
