Merry Christmas to all!

Robert you "soap bubbles" bokeh is terrific and a reminder to me at least how each of these classic lenses bring their own benefits with them. Nice capture.

Raphael love to see the 35mm in action and next up for use on the Z6,

George you are going to drive up the prices on the rangefinder lenses with these new revelations of yours. I like the idea of a walk around lightweight lens so I may try it. I have a 5cm around here but then I also have the 50mm/1.8 pancake. We'll see!

Jose great heavy metal display.

Leighton I would have had a picture of the door but rain stopped me in my tracks.

Yesterday I took the 25-50 on a trip to St. Leos Abbey and shot in the worst of rainy weather and the lowest of light inside the church. ASA 12800 with focus peaking is no problem for the Z6. I am super thrilled.

Samy maybe so, but you enjoy it and your photos show it.

About the Z6. I really like the focus peaking, especially with the zoom feature. I got the focus peaking bug when using Leighton’s on the day I met y’all in Va. I’ve yet to tame the auto ISO and find that a little annoying - It seems like a crutch. Manual mode is not that bad especially when trying to nail the shutter speed. I thought the stop down metering would be annoying but the WYSIWYG solves that. If another FTZ adaptor with F-Stop calibration comes out you bet I’ll jump at that.

I need to learn the convenience of the U 1-2-3 settings so maybe I’ll read up or You Tube them over the next few days.

Very nice effect, I like it.

Is the S/SC/old K version (old 7/5 design) or the new K version (new 7/6 design)?

I bought it from a seller in Japan and he sold it to me as non AI, there's a website that outlines the differences but I never checked it to make sure. It's slightly soft wide open but usable, I love the lens even though I have several nifty fifties f1.4 this one has the best bokeh !

Ha I remember Leighton proudly showing off the focus peaking too The Z6 with the FTZ adaptor is around 2K. Hmmm. I can't remember if George or someone else said that the oldest F lenses (5cm and 10.5 primarily) do work with the FTZ. For me that's the only drawback of the Df - those unmodified lenses from 1959 stubbornly refuse to mount.

I have no interest in the Z lenses for now. Maybe the gargantuan 58 0.95 when it shows up, but then it will have quite a price tag.

So now that's where Rafael's 15 5.6 QD-C went. I remember him doing a comparison with the 3.5 version.

Jose, good to see you back here!

Robert P, welcome to the thread!! Good stuff with the 50 1.4 and 105 micro.

Not exactly Samy, I never owned a Q.D.C, my 15mm 5.6 is the ai version. Always wanted a Q.D.C but upon seeing this one for sale, in excellent condition for a great price, I listed it on this thread to keep me from buying it and to increase the number of 15mm in this thread.

Seems to be a hung jury on the early non-Ai. Venkat had issue mounting with the tick mark 5cm. Mine mounted fine. There were variances in the length of the aperture skirt in the early models. All of mine mount including the 5.8cm/1.4 and 85mm 1.8 non-Ai.

Re: Z lenses. Don't shoot the 50mm/1.8 Z then. Incredible lens, but that is for another thread

George, would love to have someone else plunge into the LF world on this thread. The entire process is the antithesis of today's world of point your phone at something and get a snap.

Seriously though, I would love to shoot one of those cameras one day. Have read about shooting field cameras but have not yet experienced one.

Such a diverse group of shooters on this thread. With the common element being the NIKKOR lenses

The was more image in this photo's dynamic range than I knew how to process, blown highlights like the bear hat are there just fine in the raw file.

All shots with D610 + PN-11 tube + Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/4 ais + Nissin MF18 Macro-flash + tripod, ISO 250, f/16 at 1/60s. Lens at MFD, so 1:1 reproduction.
According to the serial numbers, these lenses were made in:
1967-68 (55/3.5 F); 1973 (55/1.2); 1978 (55/3.5 ai) and >2010 (55/2.8).

Never tired to note what a craftmanship Nikon delivered on those old Nikkors.

BTW, Merry Christmas to everyone.

Quite the craftsmanship. Considering their age.
I occasionally have to defend myself when I undersell the build of Zeiss ZF and ZF.2 lenses compared to the manual focus Nikkors... yes, a new Zeiss often feels better in focusing feel that an older Nikkor, but my experience is the former don't age well and the latter does. My 9 year old Zeiss 35/2 ZF looks like a dog at this point, and my 1980's Ais 35mm f/1.4 is in far better shape internally and externally. My Zeiss already needed 3 repairs and the Nikkor is mechanically perfect and has only needed the helicoids re-greased.

Ken,

Good to also see you chipping in with your Z6 experiences. So much so I ended up trawling through ~30 FM pages of Z6 discussions. I recognised a few names from this thread over there contributing to the discussion.
Interesting times.

Here are a couple of shots from a very early walk this morning. I was hoping for a nice sunrise but it didn't really materialise.
These two were taken with the 55/1.2 SC, just a few minutes apart, whilst responding to a fleeting break in cloud cover. 6 stop ND grad used on the B&W version.
