Hey, I don't mind at all! That's all part of learning.

And I REALLY love the one you just posted, I'd print it big and hang it as well. These new Nikon sensors are amazing!

Beautiful pano John
Leighton you really can not sell this lens. Some of your best photos are using this lens. That sunflower photo is truly amazing!

Thanks Ray, I think I'll keep it. BTW, I loved the shot you made with the 24mm of the walkway and the Spanish Moss. Please keep them coming, there is some truly amazing landscapes in Florida. Maybe it's time you visit the swamp and go wading with your camera.

These are all beautiful Ray, but this one is REALLY nice! That 35 really is sharp when stopped done. I expect the tripod helped a little too. Your post work is exceptional as well.

Almost 20 pages since my last visit! Took me almost this whole afternoon to read it all!!
Thanks all for the kind comments.
Great shots from everyone, just some to comment:

Peter B, awesome race car sets, and appreciated your impressions with the modded TC16A. I have to experiment mine more times;

Nick, welcome and what a great debut set;

John, awesome panos and scenarios, as usual, and using a great variety of lenses;

Kevin, loved the images with the 80-200/4.5 + tubes;

Mark, loved the castles scenarios and the rugby set;

Ron, what a extreme macro of the Ciccada;

Georg, loved the "Ferry to Poland" shot;

Leighton, beautiful "cropped" scenario;

Samy, great work with the 500/4P;

Bert, impressive macros with the 50/1.8 + tubes!

Beautiful. I may have to start looking for a 300mm f4.5

Jose that is an amazing shot. Super details!
Bert I have this lens and it is a real jewel in the Nikkor lenses. It is light, sharp wide open and amazing stopped down. You can't go wrong. Just be sure to get the EDIF. The tripod mount is better on the AIS

Thanks Bert and Ray.
Bert, just to add more to the "devilish" input from Ray, I stress this lens has just 2.5m as MFD, that is, a real plus for close ups when we need good working distances. Tubes and close up lenses can deliver the goods

Agree with Molson, the ED non IF is better optically (wide open and f/5.6, less CA) but hard to find since just ~1,000 or less were made
But MFD is not as good (short) as the EDIF.

Ok, I have finally done it, I bought a tripod! Its the Vanguard Abeo Plus 323, with the BBH200 BallHead, I pray it's worth the $250 I paid! I really tried saving that for another lens, like the awesome 28mm 2.8 AIS, or the bird killer, killer, Nikkor 400mm 3.5 AIS!! I sadly gave away in the past! Well, I just had to share this, so to keep with topic, here is Emily again! Nikkor 85mm 1.4 AIS, Nikon D800, Metz 60 CT-1 tethered, and behind an umbrella slightly angled, far away as needed, and unfortunately set to full power manual! The background is a velvet Burgundy drape on tripod poles i recently acquired for these. Thank you, and happy photography! Hopefully I can produce more images other than Emily Ashley Lee Dickinson solo's! -Americo.rodriguez

Americo,

These are sharp images. Do you like the outcome? I have to admit that your previous handheld images weren't sharp. I always thought that I didn't see something that you wanted to show.

I love my 55mm f/1.2 - one of the few MF lenses I know I could not do without even if I went on some sort of AF binge. It has such a special rendering that you can create interesting photographs from nothing, just by blowing things out of focus and concentrating the interest on what's left in focus.

take for example this dull blue hood of a car sitting on a garage floor - without the DOF effect, it would look even less interesting.

or this little spoiler Porsche thought would help at 230mph in Le Mans around 1970

you wouldn't know there's an ugly tent awning above it, because at f/1.2 you barely get the main subject in focus

When stopped down the lens becomes a crisp performer and renders very sharp. If it wasn't such a heavy lump of glass and metal, I'd consider bringing it on my hike next month, but it is hard to justify that much weight when you have a 24-85mm VR and plan to bring a 20mm, maybe a 14mm and a tripod, and a 70-300mm VR...

The air show is back in Oshkosh this week, but I am too busy packing for the mountains to be able to go there this year

Looks like a pretty great tripod Americo and from the prices I am seeing a real steal at $250.00 A little on the heavy side for carrying about but great for a studio setting. Are you practicing your strobist skills? I have noticed a few photos of Emily. A good place to go for some tips in lighting go to http://www.flickr.com/groups/strobist/
Good luck as this is not the easiest type of photography but maybe the most rewarding
Would love to see some photos of your area of the world.
