Leighton, gorgeous snow photos! I'm having trouble picking a favorite.

Philippe, very nice shots.

Samy, great birds.

I've been feeling a little rusty this week so this one kinda matches the mood. Cheers, Jeff.

Nice Jeff - good to see some good ol' rust images every once in a while. A topic that is a personal favorite of mine . . . but I don't get enough time to exploit the rusty stuff around here.

Philippe, the images with the 28 & the 85HC are completely outstanding.

Leighton, love your wonderful snowy landscapes! Personal favorite is the second shot - beautiful B&W! Winter will come back soon over here, hopefully the snow will last for a few days ;-)

So much for now, will come back tomorrow.

6 stitched photos of a mosaic in the entrance (vestibule) floor of a house in Pompeii.
D7000 + Micro Nikkor 55mm f/3.5, ISO 320, f/8 at 1/1600s.
The collar and tongue have a fading but still visible reddish colour.

Very cool mosaic! It's amazing that ANYTHING survived that eruption.

Thank you Tony!

It looks like a fish (?) being pursued by a mytical creature (1/2 dragon, 1/2 snake??). ~35% cropped.
This, like the first of the dog, needs a washing of the floor to remove dirt.

Thanks Curtis for the help about the SN;

Thanks Jeff and Peter for the comments;

Samy, great details on the birds;

Leighton, loved your snow set;

Ray, welcome to the club of D600 + D7000 owners, I am one of them. Probably at the end of the year I will upgrade from D7000 to D7100 (since the D400 never materializes!).

Very nice Philippe, my kind of shots - dark shadowed hallways
Speaking of which, haven't heard from Don in a while

Leighton, I like the contrast, that it's seemingly reversed - the ground white and the skies dark
Am curious though, are the farmhouses white too or is that a result of a colour filter conversion
Oh and I saw the hundreds of chicks, I'd have preferred to keep the boot on

Thanks guys. Was perhaps a bit too ambitious with ISO 400 film to go wandering around the dark recesses of the market. Quite a few blurred out images either from user error or scene mismatch

That said, I love the film look, especially for streets and casual but can't quite justify the cost of developing and scanning (not to mention the weight from toting two cameras). The grains and the tones are just lovely for the scenes that I want them for; no sharpening too. Perhaps I need to relook at Silver Efex for their film effects

Here's the fish corner. I cringed at seeing so many sharks on the tables.
Funny, I never really remembered seeing those in such number when I was young. Was an extraordinary occasion if there was even one.
Now, sheesh, nurse sharks, even black tip reef sharks are for sale. And worse, tiny ones only 6-7 inches long. Why bother, who'd eat that? Bleah. Rant over.

Nice to see you haven't lost power Leighton. Have you been liberated from your boot? Inquiring minds...

Actually...We just got power back a couple of hours ago, we've been on the generator. The village didn't loose power so we were able to have an internet connection. We went for photo drive, and to get gas for the generator, and when we got home, it was on! You don't know how much you miss things until they're gone.

Here's few from the drive, all taken with the 50-135mm.

Oh, and I have been "liberated" from the boot, so-far-so-good!

Very nice set of images Leighton. Glad to hear you are back on your feet.
