Some shots from one of my favorite apple-trees in the garden:

just some fun with the 16/3.5

I wonder how many kids have played "Tarzan" with this rope ;-)

Finally two different processed versions of a shot taken with my old 20/3.5UD. This lens has a hazy spot in the middle of the front-lens, which might be one of the reasons why the contrast of the original-shot was really low.

These images are totally over-processed, just for the fun of it.

You have been warned, wearing eye-protection is highly recommended.

Love the apple tree set!!

Here are a few snaps of the usual suspects while hanging out at Lake Gaston last weekend - daughter 1, daughter 2, and Magnus AKA Turd. First 2 with 55/1.2 SC wide open, Turd with 105/1.8 wide open, just to see the bokeh.

Curtis, I am keeping it.

I'm happy to hear that Eric, though the fellow with whom I'm having a very long conversation via PM will be disappointed since his desire for that lens which was no doubt stimulated by my comments won't have it satiated through you... I mentioned our PM exchange.

My guess is that the more you use that lens the more you'll like it, both for what it produces and for the pure pleasure of holding it in your hand and turning that scalloped metal focusing ring. Well done with this set. The fast 105 is a beautiful lens that doesn't get much attention both because of its price and the quality of the slower lenses. That is the reason, of course, that I have four lenses at 105mm. Nikon really knocks it out of the park every time it creates one of these lenses.

Thanks. And yes, Curtis, the 105s are great. I gave away as a gift my 1st - an older AI'd lens with the scalloped ring, and I miss that lens. It was fabulous.

I am sorry to disappoint that gent, but perhaps another time!!

BTW, I am still hankerin' for that 45, though the black ones are hard to find. May just go silver since it is the same lens, after all, and cheaper.

Thanks for the nice comments about the finch picture everyone!

While I didn't get much of a chance to shoot with my 2 MF lenses last weekend, I did snap a shot of a nice white hosta flower in the back yard with the 180 ais. Hope you enjoy it!

Here are a few shots from our beach "vacation-get-away" Lido Beach in Sarasota, Florida. The first was taken with the 24mm 2.8 AIS on a tripod. 5 secs at 2.8. The next two were taken with the 35mm 1.4 AIS

Rafael, nice start to the car show season. I especially like the overall feel of the rendering on the Packard 5.

Philippe, the "colonnes de Buren" in the Palais Royal is one of my fav B+W pics in awhile.

Chin, the bee and hive shots are wonderful!! Awesome graphical shot.

Leighton, nice job showing off the 50-135 again.

Georg, great job, I like a lot of the images, standout in the last few pages would be the girl and the bubble shot.

My kind of shot Jay, and one for which the 180 is famous. I know the 200 f/2 is a great lens, but when you can produce bokeh like that out of a lens that cost a pittance in comparison, the 180 seems too good to be true. Fine work.

Beautiful work Ray. I love what you did with the 24. I'm glad you have that lens and are playing with it on your D600. I know it was a favorite on the DX D7000 but 24mm is a nice wide lens on FX and you use it here to advantage. Beautiful. And that first shot with the 35 is rather breathtaking. What a sky! You're a talented photographer Ray.

Thank you Curtis for your kind words. The 24mm is one of my favorites that you may recall I purchased from our good friend John. I find it is very wide on the D600 and my use of it on the D7000 is probably the reason for the 35mm becoming one of my favorites on FX. We viewed some beautiful sunsets with very dramatic skies. The dynamic range on the D600 really demonstrates how far Nikon has come in helping capture them

Jay - the finch is excellent and sharp and the Hosta flower is very nice.

Georg - love the bus and the apple trees

Eric - very nice "family" pics

Ray - you've really mastered the D600. Very nice photos.

For the arachnophiles - a Rain Spider in our bedroom shot with the 105 2.5 ai-s before being caught in a broom and swept outside. These guys are real shiver inducers although they are harmless to humans. They tend to come indoors to hunt insects at night. I commented on Flickr how much I liked the shot with the rope. But there's something about this one that I love. It has to be the processing or maybe the the wild bokeh, or maybe the way the rays come down in front of the tree. I don't know, I just like it, well done.

Great looking set Ray, but this one is a stunner, the way the cloud looks on fire. You also composed it perfectly. You have the D600 singing!
