Thank you Scott. Fortunately, or unfortunately, since I have to be at the market so early, there's an abundance of nice light. I'm a FIRM believer that light is the single most important factor in a good photograph. Take this shot for instance, not really that good of a composition, but the light makes up for it.

"Tres Hombres" part II

I tried each lens at minimum focus distance, set at f8. To make things fair the 105 2.5 used extension tubes to get as close as the macros. I used live view and a tripod for critical focus on all exposures. Point of focus was the letter "P" in Japan.

105 f2.5 AIS at f8 with tubes

105 f4 AIS at f8

105 f2.8 AIS at f8

That f4 looks the most balanced across the board, the 2.8 a little richer color...at least to my novice eyes.

The 105/2.5 AIS held it's own, but I'd have to go with the 2.8 judging by these. Actually, the 2.5 did extremely well. Was this with the pk-11?

I think to get 1:1 he would have to use the PN11... It held its own for sure, just not as precise as the other two.

I used a Kenko 12mm and 20mm stacked (32mm total). Don't own a Nikon tube.

Love the hood ornaments Samy.

Reagan had to get off the porch.

Philippe, that's a frameworthy image of your daughter!

Scott, thanks for the test, the 105 2.8 seems the sharpest again, but only by a hair.

Thanks Leighton and Scott. Right, looks like Reagan's spending the summer lounging on his porch

Couple more from the show:

Both with the 20 3.5UD

Ron, don't let that lens gather dust, very nice example from the 200-400!

Another one from the car show in Frederick today. Red and yellow colors with the 20 3.5 UD.

I agree, you're one of the only one who owns this. Nice shot.

Diallo, nice job with the extension tube.

John, the Mammoth fossils and the night sky are very cool!

Ronny, more really nice work with your tubed 135.

Thanks for your nice comments Samy. Great shots from the beautiful Lancaster area. Great flowers and car show shots.

Philip, another nice one with the wonderful 28/2.8.

Roberto, beautiful beach shots!

Andy, very cool fireworks shot.

Chin, "the knees have it" is a very appealing pano.

Philippe, wonderful photo of Mathilde!

Leighton, beautiful flowers. Love how the 105/2.5 renders colors.

Ron, the "dust gatherer" sure takes a nice picture!

Samy, I'm loving the car photos with which you are showing off some great lenses from 20mm to 105, each performing beautifully. I really don't understand why more folks aren't jumping on the MF bandwagon. These lenses flat out rock... but then I'm a bit partial on the subject...

A bit of play with tubes, a 20mm Vivitar tube attached to the 135 f/2.8 Q.C. AI'd. Shot at f/2.8 so a pretty thin focal plane.

Thanks, wasn't sure if the pano would turn out okay. I really wanted the waves though, but it was too wild (and cold) for me to wade in with the 14-24mm
So a bit aways and at 45mm
And wasted the shutter waiting for the pattern I wanted
