That second shot, should enter it into the assignment contest.

Jeff, wonderful fireworks series. I especially like the middle reflection shot of the ferris wheel.

John, nice series of images! What are the odds that we both posted a trail marker with the number 9 on it, from different sides of the globe!

Yes, very strange - must be a sign of some sorts! There were many of these markers along the way, but for some reason I stopped to take an image of that particular one.
Perhaps it's just that great minds tend to think alike!

The neat 20/3.5 close, very close to a bollard for some dramatic point of view ;-)

An excellent shot. Compositions like this are why I got a wide angle (though I have yet to master mine to the degree you have)

I don't like working late on a Friday, but don't mind the view

The reflection of the sun off the building and then off the rear windshield is what initially caught my attention, but the reflections of the buildings turned out to be the more interesting element.

Today's activities were a lot about bones - mammoth bones specifically.

First a little touring of the dig site . . . 16/3.5 AI and 45/2.8P

A lot of Mammoth bones

And even more . . .

A nearly complete mammoth

One of the most pristine mammoth skulls

Some Columbia Mammoth molars

A couple of misc. from the last couple of days . . . some easy spelunking in Wind Cave in Wind Cave National Park. This cave did not have any grand rooms, thus it was difficult to get any great shots.

Then an attempt to image the milky way, but the air had too much humidity, there were some high clouds, and we were too close to some humanity for a good shot.

All with the 16/3.5 AI

Down we go! Claustrophobics need not go any further . . .

Some cool stuff on the ceilings . . .

Lame attempt at a night sky shot

John, is the 16mm f/3.5 a fisheye? (Please excuse my ignorance, still learning here...)

Is your exposure for the Milky Way shot a single exposure?

Agree with Diallo. Georg had a somewhat similar image a few months ago of a different ship. Wonderful perspective using a wide angle.

Jeff, indeed, you should submit that red, white and blue reflections somewhere, its a very striking image!

Alan, congrats on soon to be #2!!

Ronny, great work as usual. Can't say much any more, that level of work is just routine for you

Scott, nice trio of 105s and good comparison. Are they all taken at f/4? Not much difference, perhaps the middle 2.8 is a hair sharper at that distance?

Diallo, the buildings and sun reflection in the mirror is very nicely seen and captured. Great to have a NYC member here!

John, looks like an enjoyable and educational vacation. The mammoth archaelogy dig looks very interesting to visit, and cool Milky Way image. Jared, yes, that's John's 16 fisheye. I believe he has more than one

Jeff, thanks for your comprehensive comments. I try to keep up but if I fall back too much, I just go a few pages back. You have the patience and can put together the effort to go far enough back.

I am guessing that's a single exposure on the 16mm, although John will need to confirm. At that wide of an angle, I believe you can get away with a 30 sec image without stars forming trails.

Thanks Samy. They are all taken at their widest aperture.
