Nice images everyone.

Leighton, I like the green onions and salad spinner. That spinner is certainly industrial sized compared to the one in our kitchen! Glad you liked the barn shot. I did think of you when I took it.

Ray, nice glass marble image. The reflections within it are very neat.

Jeff, I like the "boat" sculpture. I trust your eye surgery went well. I hope your recovery is speedy.

Ray (OH), thanks for the comment on the skunk cabbage. It was the only color in that part of the woods. Everything else still was winter gray.

Georg, I really like the yellow bokeh drama. I prefer the color version although the b&w is very nice as well. Thanks for the comment on the weathervane image.

A local farm that has been made into a nature museum. Taken at sunrise. Not sure if I like the angle of light and the amount of tree that I put in the frame. Taken with the 28 2.8 ais at f8. C&C welcome.

Wow. It doesn't pay to look away for an instant. 12 pages later I can only say the amazing work that gets posted here only seems to get better and better. I wish I could give every photo the credit it deserves but there's too many!
I will only make one comment:
John, Peter (USA), I hope you guys make a climb together, I can't wait to see the shots from that trip. It'll be amazing the two of you bouncing ideas off each other.

P.S. Curtis, thanks for your mail, received and it looks great - sorry I haven't had a moment

Glad it arrived safely. If we go forward with something along the lines of what I wrote, I'll give you a second draft that has the correct sequence for lens movement in Europe. I'd forgotten a change made by Philippe, Mihai and Don. You're the man who controls the timing of all of this so whatever works for you will work for the rest of us.

I did lighten it a bit in post-process. Maybe I should have left it alone. Thanks for the comment Reagan. BTW, the 50 1.4 is sweet!

Here is a sampling from the past week or so. Have been under the weather for a variety of reasons, so haven't done much.

Series E 28/2.8

Series E 50/1.8

The lighting for this was NOT done in post. The sun was only shining on his sax, he was in the shadow for the rest...

Pop-up awnings make for good light diffusers...

Hi Kevin, I like the third and fourth images in this series. Nice conversion in the third and I like how the white background sets off the flower in the fourth.

Thanks Scott.

I am in flux with my kit right now. I am thinking of swapping some lenses around, selling most, buying a few. Here is my current kit:

Series E 28/2.8
Series E 50/1.8 x2
Nikkor-Q 135/2.8
Nikkor 80-200/4.5 AI
Nikkor 35/2.8 Non-AI
Nikkor 50/1.4 Non-AI x2

I am thinking of only keeping the following:
Nikkor-Q 135/2.8
Nikkor 35/2.8 Non-AI (going to convert it)
Nikkor 50/1.4 Non-AI (going to convert it)
Purchase Nikkor 50-135/3.5 and 28-50/3.5

What do you think? I need to lighten my kit a bit and some of my lenses I don't use enough to warrant keeping them with my small budget. I know a couple of you have the lens I am looking at, see anything you like?

Tough choices Kevin. I have experience with both the 28-50 and the 50-135 zooms. They are both very nice. I especially like the 28-50 for its compact size, sharpness, and contrast. The 50-135 is equally as good (check out some of Leightons posts with it), but a little large for my hiking kit.
Whatever you decide, have fun.
Scott

Hi gang, it's good to be back. Here's a quick one from the roof of the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla. In case you have any doubts, I have it on good authority that, yes, this is fine art.

I totally disagree, it would be art if it was surfboards not canoes...............

Laura, very nice work on the planes (and the scary looking helicopters over at your 200mm-thread too)! Hope your exams work out well...

Mark, focusing the 24's with a standard focusing screen is a really hard task. Nothing beats Live-View for ultimate accuracy, but unfortunately this doesn't work with sportsmen of all ages ;-) Sometimes I shoot a burst in CH-mode and turn the focusing ring back and forth a bit (focus-bracketing on the run).

Ray, as usual very nice work with the 300/4.5! I like especially the second flower-image (the light is better here compared to the first shot) and of course the ibis-Image.

Scott, the lighting on the nature-museum-image is great: perfect textures on the front and a very 3D-look.
I'm not 100% sure about your framing: the basic idea with the split tree is great, but the gap between tree and house is a tad too wide for my personal taste.
A border/frame would visual stabilize the tree. I have no clue about the surroundings of this building - maybe a composition including tree and house, but shot from a different angle (more from the left side), would be worth a try.
But this is nitpicking from a desk a couple of thousand miles away - I really like how you discover your part of the world with your camera.

Kevin, that's a very nice set! Love the sax-player and the table-decoration.

Ray - Love the flowers with the the 300mm and tube, I think I'd have to use a tripod for this rig.

Scott - Thanks for the spinner comment. We do around a 100 bags a week for the market, so the bigger the spinner the faster the cleaning! I love the framing and light of your farmhouse shot.

Kevin - I LOVE the first one of the leaves, fantastic light, well seen!

Laura - Good luck on your finals!
