Love your close work with the D600 Ray. I'm not surprised that you'd find a new relationship with the 105 not that you're shooting FX. I own four lenses at that focal length, at least in part because I love it so much. Of course, NMFAS which has been much discussed of late, probably had something to do with it...

I visited a friend his morning and saw these flowers as I was leaving. I had to walk to my car to pick up my camera so I could take a few shots. I mounted the 135 f/2 AI-s, first

I have to say I like the second one better. Looking forward to seeing SF from the ferry. What a nice friend.

A bonus shot from the Series E 50mm... Played around with this one. I like how it turned out, what do you all think?

Stunning. I really need to have one clear night when these are active down here. Loving the sights you're sharing, but I know this is something that's amazing when you see it for yourself.

I have not dug into the optical formula differences if any between the 20mm AIS, AF, and the AF-D. I use speedlights in i-TTL so the AF-D would be the best choice there. I do prefer to use AI, AIS lenses for the cold night work as I don't feel too bad when they frost over at -35. The 24mm and 28mm and 35mm all have nasty distortion wide open that forces me to give up 2 stops to get pin point stars. Only the Noct is relatively distortion free at /1.2

I still have boat loads of MF Nikkors but

John, ours has been very less than cooperative, too, plus lugging camera gear around school along with my loaded backpack would probably be REALLY good exercise... but not when I have five flights of stairs to deal with before/after one class. Guess I will have to for summer semester though, since the Intro photography class (B&W and darkroom) is a class I chose to take, for me.

Thought the weather here in Seattle has been somewhat cooperating, my schedule has not, so I've missed a bunch of shooting opportunities both during the day and night time.

Managed to stuff the 400/5.6 ED AI in my camera bag along with my laptop down at the beach the other day. CPL on and hand held, thus the ISO. Nothing super interesting, but at least it's something!

+2 Tubes are fun Ray, you need to find a set. Kenko, Nikon, or a set of compatible Vivitars like Curtis uses.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. That last image of the car was meant to be just something fun, but the response has been overwhelming. Thank you. I have been seeing the car driving around my town recently and I never had my camera with me. Was blind luck that I stumbled upon it parked. I had to crop it a bit to get most of the modern Ford pickup behind it. Then I thought about making it look vintage. Glad you all like the result.

I picked this 35mm F2 O up yesterday from the original owner who is in his 80's. He said he probably used it 10 times before he had it AI converted along with his 55 1.2 After it was converted he remembered using it twice. He much preferred the 55 which had a fair amount of wear but the glass on it too was pristine. The 35 was in a little leather case and that is where it has sat. I already have the 35 -O and the 35 F2 AI-S and I see little difference in them. I took the shots with the AI-S version. I might just keep it but I will probably stick it on the B&S before long.

What a gorgeous lens Ron. I'm reminded of the 35 f/2 AI-s I bought from a Japanese gentleman who had recently bought his first DSLR. He was ready to move from MF to AF.

These old lenses with the scalloped focusing rings are really gorgeous and a joy to use. Congratulations on your latest acquisition.

Thanks Ray, Scott, Samy and Tony for the comments.

Mike, your Aurora Borealis series is jaw dropping;

Tony, nice sets with Nikki;

Ray, loved the 105/2.5 P set;

Curtis, what fantastic flower capture with the 135/2 + PK13; and some reviews state this lens is "weak" at shorter distances...

Kevin, spetacular set with the old 135/2.8 Q;

John, as usual, excellent landscapes with the 400/5.6 ED;

Ron, congrats for the beauty 35/2 O;

Chin, lovely twin dogs shots, loved the most the last one.

I just received a PM from Tony alerting me to the fact Nikki was shipped today and is on the way to me. Amazing to realize this adventure is drawing to a close. I was a little less than a year ago that Leighton and I had a conversation about trying something like this. And now I'll be the last person to entertain our fair lady before sending her home to Ben who so graciously gave us this opportunity to play. Thanks again Ben.

It is remarkable to realize what this adventure has wrought. Quite a few of the folks who shot with Nikki proceeded to buy a copy of the lens for themselves. And, of course, a few of us became enamored with these old pre-AI lenses with their scalloped focusing rings. I'm still looking at them, which is patently absurd because I already have WAY TOO MANY lenses. Four of them are sitting on the table in front of me, five or six are in my camera bag and the cabinet behind me has so many packed on the shelves there isn't room for me. Of course, I do have a couple of empty camera bags I could press into service...

So by this weekend I expect I'll have a new playmate. I'll put her through her paces as i introduce her to northern California. Who knows, she might like it so much she won't want to got to Australia...
