Peter, I like the low spring tide image. Good time to do a bit of hull work on that boat.

Thanks Scott. It needs more than hull work - it's been there for about 2 years and should be towed out to sea and sunk IMO

Ray O - it's very easy. Only the aperture ring needs work and most seem to unscrew quite easily. I was too enthusiatic with my first two and worked on the back of the lens also which with modern cameras is not necessary.

Ray Fl - the Banyan is amazing. We have a similar type of "strangler fig" in SA that also sends down rootlets which eventually become new trunks. One in Pretoria is reputed to be over 1000 years old.

Curtis - the rose master!

Chuong - interesting - what are they like in B&W?

Mark - I like the eclipse but wouldn't spend a fortune on a lens in anticipation of the next one. You know what will happen - cloud

Samy - go for it. Look at Jose's reference on Thomas Pindelski http://pindelski.org/Photography/2013/02/06/nikkor-ai-conversions-diy/ I love the tulips and also an excellent photo of the rabbit. That will get John's lens lust going for sure!

Thanks for the comments. The boat shots were with the H lens though. This is like being a golfer with 2 putters - you always want the one you left at home!

Scott - the "poor man's pano" is really good - that is a great lens.

Mike - good to see Central Park looking like summer is on the way.

Haha. Yes, it probably will. But I have a little time to hunt for a bargain to appear. The next eclipse visible in Europe is not until Sept the 28th. There is before then a total solar eclipse on March the 20th but both these are only in the year 2015.

My hope for something interesting in the sky happening is now on comet ISON. (although failing that I just read there is a 1/1000 chance of another comet (2013 A1) hitting Mars next year, that could be fun* as well)

* Fun to watch from Earth, probably not fun if you live on Mars.

Scott, I like the poor man's pano, with the Kodak landmark in the background.

Mike, nice NYC images. I particularly like the one with the toy boat.

Ray, I missed the banyan tree images earlier, last time I was on the gulf coast that was one of the pleasant sights.

John, if it helps, that 500 F4P image wasn't on a tripod, just rested on a window sill The Lightware case for the one on FS looks interesting, a bit more portable than the hard Nikon trunk mine has.

***** BLOG UPDATE *****

So many GREAT images lately! I've been so busy I haven't had time to chit-chat with y'all and I miss that.

Anyway, here's Curtis' seventh and eight post. The eight post has some fantastic flower images!

Thanks, Samy. The toy boat photo is my favorite of the set, too (I have a thing for boats going back to when I was I kid).

As an aside, I admit to being pleasantly surprised with how well the "macro" setting on the 28-50 worked because, in my experience, the "macro" setting on the 50-135 is not nearly as good. (I was very impressed by Jose's 50-135 + 6T flower shot the other day and plan to give that combination a try.)

Confused Narcissus.

These bulbs are supposed to flower in Spring. For some reason ours think they're in the Northern hemisphere and pop up every Autumn??

Another one with the 20mm f3.5 from the museum - two remote strobes, one low one high, f8 1/100s iso 800 D600. This lens is wide enough for just about any tight place

and one wit the 105mm f2.5 @f8 1/200s iso 100 single flash far in front of camera

To me the shadows remind me of an old Wright Bros era airplane. colors are just great in that area of the image

From Mount Whitney - all 20mm f3.5 AI on D600. Love the size and weight of the lens for excursions like this. The 14mm stayed in the car that trip.
