First two, I'm torn which I like, the first or the second. The 55 is how many years they've been broadcasting, but I also like the bokeh of the second.

Laura, That's quite a nice looking Nubian. We had some of these when we first started farming. They're VERY friendly.

I don't know if you own the Zeiss 100, but you can likely get your hands on one. Do a comparison with one of the 105s and post it in the Nikon forum and see what folks have to say. The proof is in the pudding...

Todd's was pretty tasty...

lol Curtis - don't go amateur psych on me - yes I do have the 100MP and there ain't no way it looks anything like the nikkor - I'm not saying better - just nothing like.

went out today cause I felt guilty about not taking any pics for weeks. don't know how Sydney ever got a reputation for being sunny - it never shines - never.

And Sydney's overrun with Americans at the moment - yank accents everywhere - first I cop it on here and then out in the streets...yikes!!

Ray, Leighton, Chuong - grest images

Curtis - nice fresh PJ's at last but also lovely pics, as always

Rafael - thanks and a very nice series

Chin - I liked the market shots - real film effects. And the "cross" was well seen.

JOse - keep them coming! Excellent series.

Tony - very clever use of lighting. Nice shot.

Laura - as a pic the second isolates the subject more. To choose #1 you'd have to jnow the background.

One has to laugh when an Aussie talks about strange accents

But he can take pictures!

Thanks John, Leighton, Peter and Reagan.

Tony, great self portrait with the new 16/3.5;

Rafael, thanks for the detailed explanation about your 20 UD;

Leighton, these crossings were so common at Pompeii roads supposedly because:

1) they allowed people to not getting their feet wet or dirty as the roads were probably dirty due to lack of an adequate sewage system.
2) pavements/sideways were at least 30cm high in relation to the road, thus for most people these crossing were more confortable to use.

That's a wonderful self-portrait, Tony. Love the soft light and dark bg

Laura, love the goat photo. Was this with the 200/2? I can see the hairs yet the background's all creamy, fantastic

>>

I've another of the 'cross', this time from the other end of the airwell

Very nice Chin. I take it the original is attractively colored. It would be nice to see the colors but your black and white rendition is nicely done. Can you translate the message printed to the right?

A bit of bokeh play yesterday with the 85 f/1.8 H AI'd at f/2. That is my car blurred on the right. My laundry is still in the wash cycle in a building on the left...

My American friends who visited Melbourne were very quickly identified as "seppos". It took me a long time to figure out what it meant.

This and the 2nd shot are my favourites, and it seems ridiculously sharp. Do you have any qualms with sharpness on your D800? I've heard a few people complaining that the 24 PC-E isn't up to the level of the new sensors.

Heh yeah, spray-painted in full psychedelic colour glory. But Tri-X was all I had
Not really sure what it's trying to say - *something* for a dove; colloquialism for which I have no translation for

The macro mode will work in a pinch, especially when you can crop away with the D800! I love how the light falls on this one.

That was shot at f/2 Leighton. I stopped down when shooting flowers that were blowing in the wind and didn't reset during the balance of my shooting. As much as I love shooting wide open, with really fast lenses, I'm learning that sometimes less is more. Yesterday I even stopped down to f/4...

I generally shoot candids now at f/2.8, reserving the widest shots more as bokeh play than anything else. Fortunately, the slower lenses such as the 180 f/2.8 AI-s, the 300 f/4.5 AI-s ED-IF and 400 f/5.6 AI-s ED-IF are wonderfully sharp wide open, which means there is no need to stop down with these lenses, or with the 80-200 f/4.5 AI.

Ron, great capture.
I am wondering how this zoom will perform with tubes or close up lenses. Need to experiment some day.
