Closing the loop on my latest restoration project and since I know there are some gear heads on here, thought I would post this of the finished product.
The bellows that I had made for the Vest Pocket Camera came and I was able to get them installed one evening this week. Also added light seals to the film loading base and verified that the two shutter speeds are accurate within 1/3 - 2/3 stops.
So should be good to go for another 100 years
I have had a local group ask me for an exhibit of images from areas in western NC using this camera. So I am back off next weekend for some more shooting. Hope to have it done by the fall.

Shot with Hasselblad DB and Nikkor-SW 65mm/4, tilt and swing applied.
Siphiwe, What are you going on about? - that's a killer shot. Love the OOF area, and the central violet flower sharpness.

James is such a tough act to follow. I love all of them, James.
There are technical words that can describe how the 55mm paints backgrounds from certain distances. I'll just stick to "I shot this, and I liked it". The wider view of this scene is in my recent post in the "D3/D700 is still a joy to shoot" thread .

George, this is masterfully thought out, captured and post processed! Your workmanship on the repair/restoration is awesome! WOW! I keep going back and looking again.
George, you could give some competition to KEH's repair and CLA business. Seriously, that's outstanding work, and great that now you get to do a whole assignment with the century old camera!

George, Congratulations on finishing the restoration. Maybe you can link your latest photos with the group.

Finally was able to elicit heavy purple fringing. I’ve seen traces and you can see a bit in the shot of the gator, but wide open, mid distance against heavy contract and it was very evident. Still good performance, especially from a lens of this vintage plus it cleaned up at f/2.8. Bokeh here isn’t perfect but still an attractive rendering to me.
Does anybody know to which Nikkor lens this quotation refers:
"An anecdote back from the era of the Nikkor Auto lenses. There was a lens that delivered incredibly sharp resolution, but the defocus image (blur) was not so good. particular lens branded the whole Nikkor Auto family with a reputation of having bad defocus images, especially in Japan."

I have wondered about this for a long time. The only lens I can think of that was sharp, but had very nervous bokeh (and in the approximate date range) is the initial 50/2. That lens and the 35/1.4 drove me nuts. I never shined to either of those, even though others can do wonderful things with them.

Another nice set with Nippi, especially the Spanish Moss and the flowers.
