I watched that as well. I'm glad Boeing finally had a good day.
Man, I don’t know what was going on with me, but shooting at Disney was a disaster. The Z5 and I did not gel together at all. I took maybe 6 shots over the course of the day and kept putting it away in disgust. At the end of the day, a point and shoot might have served me better. This week my neuropathy has been bad in my right hand, so I know that didn’t help, but man…last night I literally was looking at prices I would get for my kit. So very disappointed.

I'm going to Ireland in October, if they'd be willing to meet/ship it there, I could facilitate.
Thank you Laura, they are pretty far from Ireland. I will let things stay as they are - I still have a prototype lens of which only one is known. Will wait getting a 6mm out.

Please send a link to the $50 Nikkor. I’ll take it.
As promised, some landscape Nippi shots. B&W because I like the way it renders in harsh midday light which is sometimes the only time I can shoot. I’ll confess though I tend to process high contrast. I need a low contrast recipe to try with this legacy glass. Shot at f/5.6-f/8
Your midday high contrast with Nippi is very appealing and unique Matt, there is a yo-no-se-que look to this lens that pleases me.
The new lens is just beautiful. Clean rubber, paint, glass, numbers, bright aluminum, no buggered screws, clean mount, no brassing, the index pin slot was pristine, no fungus, haze, dust, scratches, no coating rub marks, and it had that famous Nikkor sheen. The focus helicoid moves like a dream making two of my others feel dryish in comparison. D850 and the new to me 55mm f3.5 ai micro
15 image stack of Baby's Breath
Single frame shots
PS - if you miss itunes for music on your Apple silicone mac, I found Audacious from linux will run through Home Brew. Not as good as Winamp (which I have a beta running fine, but not playing fine), but this is way better than Apples's Music app - IMO.
I suspect it’s sharpness and micro contrast without in your face modern contrast. It tends to render with good depth as well (at least to my eye) a very 3-D lens if you believe in that.
That said the rotating front is tough to get used too, as are aperture changes. I just ordered a 85/1.8 in K mount. Curious how it compares as it’s well regarded as well.

You know you are addicted when you want to use a particular lens and it cannot be found in less that 30 minutes.
James is such a tough act to follow. I love all of them, James.
There are technical words that can describe how the 55mm paints backgrounds from certain distances. I'll just stick to "I shot this, and I liked it". The wider view of this scene is in my recent post in the "D3/D700 is still a joy to shoot" thread .

These are great BJ, the one I like best is the 4th one, where the piano player is reading music looking elated with thee singer in the backgrouknd.
Thanks, I like that one too. It's funny, that guy is very quiet and serious, but when he sits down at a piano and starts playing jazz he becomes animated and joyful. It's beautiful to see. He originally trained as a classical guitarist and has only been playing piano for about four years but he's absolutely brilliant, he's in high demand.

Yea, Apple's music app has a glunky UI. Congrats on the 55/3.5.
