Reagan, thank you for the memories. It is said one is never really gone until the last person ever says their name for the last time, so I guess Ray is still with us in spirit for some time to come!

Yes, that is spherochromatism at wide apertures. The lens is known for it so I knew about it before purchasing the optic
You get those magenta outlines in the foreground and green outlines in the background in harshly lit areas. But for the extra £2850 I'd need to fund a Plena (to overcome the problem) I think I can live with it. All part of the learning curve.
In this one you can see the magenta/green transition on the pavement occurs right under the couple's feet but less so on their outlines - so that shows I managed to get the focus in the right place. It was the flapping dog-tag on his boots that caught my attention. That must mean something to those youngsters in the know. ...Show more →
Most interesting. It doesn't offend me at all. I'm much more likely to be offended by build, feel, ergonomics than by output. I discovered while cropping a little bit of driveway ot the bottom of one of the pictures I posted on Sunday that my favourite lens has corners that look like they've had a generous application of Vaseline, at F8! Still such a sweet lens to use.

I did correct some of it in LR and pasted a second verison into the original posting for comparison.
The original does look poor compared to the modified version.

Hi Roberto, it's nice to see you back here. I'm glad you're still using your MFNG, and even gladder that you have dropped by to post your results.
Here are some close-ups from the Big Qualicum River trail on October 3, and taken with my trusty D800E, the 105 f/2.8 micro Ai-s, and the TC-16A.
Thank you GroWeb.
About using MFNG in autofocus mode in some way, I suppose that use them with an AF adapter with ML is allowed too.
I have recently purchased the last version of Techart PRO adapter for my Sony, it really works; there is the Nikon Z mount too.

I really like the first image, what are we looking at?
Hallo Leighton, nice to find you OK and very active.
It's an architectural installation at the "Venice Biennale Architettura 2023" (there is also the "Venice Biennale Arte", they do one year the Architectural exhibition and the year after the Art one, in the same very nice and big location; quite important and international because a lot of countries are represented with an artist installation).
Over the years the Architectural exhibition, the one I'm interested more, has turned into a form of art; less real 3D scale model and more videos, conceptual work and so on. The one of the picture is one of the closest to a traditional architectural installation, image the other ones.
So I still go to the Architectural one and usually skip the ART one.
Lately I'm enjoying some photographic exhibition in Venice: two pictures (25-50mm f/4 AIS) from the one of Sabine Weiss that maybe you have heard of.
