but I'm not sure which is funnier - the poodle staring at the flash - or Chin hiding behind the kitchen cupboard with camera and remote flash trigger in hand waiting to snap. lol

great pics Dean - they're not tourist snaps. They're moody (as someone has said) but I'd say sad too, all the expressions seem very grim - even the little boy lying at the front of the boat. That could have been a happy shot of a boy on a boat in the sun but the look on his face, he seems sombre, and exhausted, way beyond his years.

Some more from Cambodia. Today we drove an hour of of Siem Reap and then took a boat for around another hour and cruised the waters around the Kampong Phluk fishing village. All taken with the 180 f/2.8 Ai-S.

Somebody said between 10 and 2 your wasting time taking pictures. Try getting my wife up to go earlier. Everyone likes a challenge with sun anyway. The images on this thread lately are just amazing I don't know about some of you but I hesitate to even put anything on here. At any rate here are some bright sun shots. 35-70 AI(72mm) and then the 20mm 3.5 UD(72mm). The last is a night Heron who was staying out of the wind hidden in the grass with the 400 3.5

A couple of pictures with the AIS 100-300 f5.6 on my D700. I really enjoy the 100-300 on the bright summer days, when I can shoot at ISO 400 and get steady enough for good results. I saw the marmot up in the Olympic mountains - no doubt searching for threats. Maybe that long skinny zoom lens scared him...the other shot was a Canadian sailing vessel I saw from a ferry boat, again, the long reach
of the 100-300 was great. Had to make sure I was out of the wind with no "VR"

Nice work with the 100-300 5.6 I really need to use mine a little more. I love how this lens is so sharp wide open!

If one is a sensible person, getting the f/1.8 over the f1/4 is the way to go. In my hands, the f/1.4 has such a small depth of field it is almost unusable. I usually shoot at f/2.8 My subjects are (or I am) typically moving make focus even harder. Maybe it is more of me not taking my time. (typical)

I am not saying I would get the f/1.8 over the f/1.4 If I had to do it over again, I would still get the f/1.4. It is such a cool looking lens. IT is bigger and heaver. It feels nicer in my hands. The one or two photos I took at f/1.4 make it worth it.

Both are great lenses. 85mm it the focal length I love! I've really thought about selling all my other lenses...

Abram, what a gorgeous horse shot! It's like I can feel the soft skin around the nose (I've had horses, so I know what it is like).

Ala, what a lovely shot of you boy. I'm sure he wants to be a photographer like hos daddy when he grows up.

Jose, I did not comment yet on you owl photo's, but they are beautiful, sharp and special! Very, very good!

Dean, I've seen beautiful photo's from Cambodia, it's a slice of life that you're showing us, but I agree with Ben that's there's not one happy person in the frame.

Chin, what a funny photo of your …Oolong, it's very funny. Makes me wonder what goes on in her mind.
I really loved your photo of the water chestnuts, beautiful colors, and very good composition!

Philip, that's how it's supposed to be, fall in love with your own little baby. Lovely photo of Marg!

Ed, very nice images of the lake and of the heron. They stand like an old men, tucked away in a raincoat ;-)

Ian, great portrait of Faye!

Ray, beautiful photo's from the Great Smoky Mountains. I read somewhere that your wife had never seen snow before? That must have been very special then!

Monty, I'm glad you took Nikki to Webex, she deserved to be there. Nice, sneaky photo of Hanna. Funny to see a 'vegan' pod with a 'spam' can.

Naturally, you wil be seeing Rocky through Nikki's eye(s)

On the first one I think you can see this is a popular spot for neighborhood doggies. Rocky left his mark about 1" above the rusted bolts

Thank you Rinie. Yes it's true she had never seen snow before. When we were at the summit Channel 6 from Knoxville, Tennessee was there and they interviewed her about seeing snow for the first time. So she was on TV as well
