I love visiting Centrale Montemartini, which is an extraordinary example of industrial archaeology and belongs to Civic Museums of Rome. It's not so distant from home. It's a really beautiful place for testing your lenses and experimenting new compositions
All pictures below were taken with Z6 and my 40+ years old Nikkor AI 50/1.4.
A very interesting set, Riccardo. Thanks for sharing. Looking at the ISO, it must be a poorly lit place but the pictures seem very clean and crisp. I'm not much of a 50mm person and there is so much variety to choose from. It's a focal length I'm learning to use more regularly.
The pancake Nikkor is an interesting lens wide open but has a big transformation of character as the aperture closes. Character transformation is even more pronounced than the AF-S 58mm f/1.4G.
I was out shooting the kids and the lure of the garden kids was too strong, I forgot about the human ones. These may not even be interesting to some(or most) but I'm quite taken by the wide open rendering. I've had the AF 50mm f/1.8D for more than a decade and it just doesn't draw like this.
Mounted lens on a cheap Z adapter and took a test series, due to adapter the lens did not reach infinity and was a tad softer on the right side. Just a little bit of both. Will have to buy the Rayqual as George recommends.
Sample at 1.2 with cheap adapter, full sizes in Flickr
Placed lens on FTZ and it did reach infinity just fine, plus sharpness became even across the frame. This is actually quite good performance at 1.2 by any standard. (of mine )
I've always wanted to give infrared photography a try, so I had a D70 converted to 720nm IR. I just received it yesterday and took it out today for a couple of test shots. I'm really looking forward to learning about IR and how to process IR images. Here are my test shots and my first attempts at processing. So far I think I like B&W IR better, but the false colors of the color conversions are interesting. I'd love to hear so tips from anyone who has experience in IR.
Of the lenses taken to Cruising Grand Street recently, The 35mm 1.4 N, 55mm 1.2, 3.5cm, 13.5cm, the most pleasing perspective and rendering for me was the 13.5cm MIOJ. It needs a lot of space to compose, which is hard to come by.
Some more views from the Sout West coastal path.
This part of the coastline is dotted with lots of little coves and wonderful beaches.
It was a hot mid-week day with people enjoying the sunshine and the natural playground.
Schools were back in session so it was relatively quiet.

Thank you.
I took the pictures with apertures in the f/2.8-f/5.6 range, where the AI 50/1.4 really shines, IMO. The high ISO performance of Z6 is really good, so I had no problem with the (scarce) available light.

Not that you asked but for me the 35mm f1.4N is your signature Cruising Grand lens.

Colin, it looks like you got a nice break in weather for your mini holiday. Great shots

The weather turned.... we were unlucky. The weather front was right on top of us.
Very heavy rain earlier in the day and then a very low cloud base spoiled the views.
50/2 H (no apparent ill effects from me taking it apart and cleaning it)
