Ryan, incredible color, I fully enjoy the set. you made M240 and 0.95 shining.
Joe, when you gonna open retail store for Leica? you might have more legacy lens than dealer

Thanks for the comparison Derek. That Rokkor looks awefully sharp compared to the other lenses tested....
yes...
the 40 cron is sharper in the central portion at large apertures and competitive near the corner and the lux is actually sharper in the central portion at small apertures.
the rokkor is more even across the frame than blisteringly sharp (absolute extreme corners on FF are a bit weak though), which is more important to me.
so i got my 28/2 ASPH back from Leica repair and we had a downpour late afternoon; i did a few quick snaps with the GR and the M9/28 on my frontyard after the rain for diffused light and saturated colors (it was a bit cloudy afterwards)...
check these out...sort of a tongue-in-cheek comparison...RAW developed directly through Photo Ninja. here's the 28 @f2.0
i get saturated colors with Photo Ninja with the GR RAWs but the greens/cyans here looked cranked to 11. it's not as pronounced in Aperture. it's probably the color bias of the Sony sensor here...or could be me talking out of my a..
I did not post this to shed a bad light on the GR...after all, the GR's fairly new and there's no RAW developer yet that's tuned to its signature.

Edward, hope your 85Sonnar clears customs soon. I can't wait to see some pics shot with that lens.
Thank you Joe. Unfortunately the saga continues. DHL informed me they expect to deliver the lens on Monday, which makes it 11 days for clearance. A world record. I know one thing, I will never ship with them again.
I see similar saturated colors out of my GXR. I posted about it and was told that the GXR is somewhat sensitive to the RAW conversion program used. Based on your shot, it would seem to be the issue with the GR as well. In the end I'm getting the colors I want, but it takes a bit of work.

From my experience with the GXR, I think it's a bit tricky to get the right WB in ACR. It's a very finicky camera, that can produce great results but not without some efforts in PP.
Michael, nice shots and yard
Dexter, nice comparisons. For my GR, I use LR4 with the new ACR/ Adobe std profile and the colors looks somewhat accurate. I haven't seen nasty greens but the embedded profile makes reds into pink. You can read about this at Serious Compacts Forum or elsewhere. Howver, I don't know about Aperture and other raw converters.
Edward, that is a long wait, sorry to hear about that. I normally avoid DHL, they are good for European continental shipping but when it comes to international, its best to use FedEx or UPS or even your local postal service's EMS. I stay away from DHL at all cost. I am as anxious to see your Sonnar pics as well. I also like the ZM 85/2 Sonnar as well as my Sony Zeiss 35mm f/2 Sonnar on the RX1. MY current Sonnar fix is my Nikkor 5cm 1.4
Nikkor SC 5cm 1.4 ltm wide open
Exif from LR4 shows the wrong aperture.
My next **goal** is to try some pre-war and war-time Zeiss/Contax lenses such as the Opton 50/1.5 and 85/2 lenses and adapting them using an Amadeo adapter. Since you are our Zeissman on this thread, have you tried, or considered adapting any of these lenses?

Wow, Joe, the last two images are really outstanding.
Thanks for your sympathy, Joe. I am going nuts with DHL every day. Normally UPS and FedEx would clear such shipment in less than 24 hours. The seller has a contract with DHL but I should have insisted on UPS.
To be honest, it never occurred to me to try any of the older Contax glass. I will definitely get a macro lens once I have the M 240, and I will choose between the Leica APO and Contax MP 100/2.8. I am not familiar at all with the older glass.
So finally received the Sonnar after I had to hire a clearing agent. Unfortunately I received it in the evening, but here are a few test shots to check the focus calibration. I'm glad to find out that focus is perfect at infinity and up close. At infinity, it is almost as sharp WO as stopped down, but suffers from purple fringing in the highlights, which is completely gone by f/4. It also has a tendency to flare, that was not helped by the UV filter that I had on.
All shots at f/2 and f/4, with default ACR settings, except WB adjusted manually.
Ryan, am liking your M240 colors, pp looks really nice and contrasty. 21Lux and you son looking good on the M240.
Phil, nice one with the ZM35/2! How do you like this lens compared to the FLE?
Joan, nice catch with the squirrel on the X2.
Allen, nice one!
Edward, congrats once again on a stellar lens!! It looks really sharp at infinity! I recall the original Contax Sonnar 85/2 (pre-war/wartime) were optimized for up close up performance, did Zeiss update the design on the ZM version did they only add new coating similar to the ZM 50 1/5?
