Well I'm in the same boat as Joe. The good news is that you all will get a break from me posting so many M240 pics! Bad news is my camera is being returned to get the lugs checked. They seem secure to me but why risk it I suppose....

Dear Leica M Customer,

We are aware of the fact that a few of the Leica M (Typ 240) cameras shipped before April 5, 2013, experienced loose carrying strap eyelets. We identified that this was caused by an assembly fault that occurred in the Leica M (Typ 240) production line. Products potentially affected only concern Leica M (Typ 240) cameras shipped prior to April 5, 2013. After identifying what happened, we fixed the production issue immediately. Rest assured that the issue has been completely resolved and corrected. We are deeply sorry that this occurred.

Having crosschecked the camera’s serial number, we regret to inform you that your camera 444XXXX is affected.

In order to coordinate the precautionary check of your camera, we invite you to contact your local Leica Subsidiary. To find your corresponding partner please have a look at our homepage

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Well, Gary and Joe, sorry to hear about the strap lugs issue with your cameras. They will go on a trip to Solms but the good news is that it only takes 48 hours to repair them. I'm very happy that I didn't succumb to the temptation of being an early bird.

Edward, I'll take the early bird when it comes to digital Leicas. In my experience, even the later arriving birds are never immune from flights back to Solms

Camera has to go back to Solms for the fix, all prepaid and insured by Leica. 24-48h in Solms but for us in the US, it has to go to Leica NJ and they in turn, they will send it to Solms. So all in, it would probably take approx 2 weeks. Not too bad I guess.

Well, they should give a free hand grip with each camera to apologize for the blunder

That's rough having to part with it so soon after getting it. I'm guessing this is why there seems to be a lull in the deliveries. Gary, did they cover shipping to NJ? Or does it go through TCS?

Edward - that first one is really nice.

Ryan - TCS doesn't get involved. I contacted Leica NJ this morning and they already dropped off a UPS box & label at my house. I package it up and drop it off at a UPS outlet. It then is shipped to NJ and then on to Solms. I am thinking it may take 3 weeks - hopefully less. I asked for a loaner from NJ just for fun - they said no.

Since my M9 will be gone for a while. I dig some shots from Hangzhou.

Ryan, very nice portrait
Edward, great shot of that guard.
Michael, nice b&w set. I prefer the landscape to the portrait orientation here.

Ryan, congrats on the 75Lux. Love the rendering on that portrait!
Edward, excellent shot with the ZM35/2. I'm beginning to miss my OOC DNGs and the slide film look of the M9 files.
Michael, excellent shots with the 50Cron rigid. The last bamboo shot is my favorite.

I've just recently acquired an M9 from a seller right here on FM. Here are a few early shots with the Zeiss 35mm f2.8 Biogon.

Been away only a couple of days and lots more posts on here! Thanks for comments/likes re my M8 fall shots (p682).

Goran - welcome - I agree with praise already given by others

Just got the G45 back from the Leica conversion (CA ebay guy). I haven't got a UV+IR filter for it yet, so this is just a sort of test shot. I'm also trying it on my Nex5N, but I find focussing easier on the M8 than peaking on the 5N!
