I was out shooting with a fellow FM member yesterday. Took many shots, and barely starting to PP but here are a few with the ZM 25/2.8:

...Thanks Cal - don't blame you for wanting to stay in. A few times, while sitting along the ridge in the woods with the wind blowing across, I almost couldn't feel the shutter release because my fingers were so cold! I also didn't have any snowshoes and by the end of the day my legs were feeling like lead from having to plow through ~30cm of snow all day. Nice set. I was reading the page from the bottom up, and when I saw #2, for some reason I had the feeling it was in Ontario, before I saw your

I'll be interested to see what you do with the patterns in the snow. I freely admit I have a great deal to learn, I shot some interesting wind patterns in the snow, but my post-processing skills failed me. My attempts to enhance the patterns ended up as something that resembled 'oatmeal' Snow is tricky.

Thank you Winston!

Again, beautiful b/w shot with the bicycle and boat in the background.

Ron, what a nice set. Love the dark tones!

Thanks. Just been kinda hard for people lately with the weather and all. I've been out just haven't seen much.

That's understandable... kind of felt the same way while in Toronto the other day. But I'm also not so finely attuned to noticing good people-on-the-street photos as you are.

And great find/composition with the kid's shadow.

Cal - yes, wind patterns. I'll see how it goes and try to avoid the 'oatmeal' look. Not sure how you were processing them, but if you're using Lightroom, I would suggest playing with the shadow and clarity sliders.

Winston - another really nice scene. Well done!

Edward - agreed with the others, the last one in the first set really stands out. Appears to be an interesting character too. Looks and sounds like you had a productive outing.

75 Lux (though not taking advantage of the unique qualities of this lens in this shot - another situation where a 'lesser' lens, such as the 75 Summarit, would have been equally good):

Ron,

the 2nd shot is terrific! Great composition and timing. The 3rd shot, has shadow patterns that can be enhanced and will be a killer in BW

Winston, that BW of the bike is nice, i may have to try the Nokton one of these days.
Ron, some great colors in that series of the station
Airfrog, the popicles with the water drop splitting is nice
Edward, good clarity on those shotsI'm a bit fan of the Zeiss look
Seekuh, nice ducks in flight
Michael, those architectural shots of the buildings have good color and geometry.

Got a Voigtlander 40 in the mail on Friday, so I ran out to tested it out. I like the size, but the frame lines are weird, I suspect I might not use this much.

edward - 2 and 4 are my favourites of that set. I gave the ZM 25/2.8 serious consideration, but went with a 2nd hand Summicron 50 for now.

Winston - that's a striking shot.

Now a conundrum that I hope someone on here can answer.

When I bought my Type 4 Summicron 50 from a well-known 2nd hand dealer, I also bought a 39mm Leitz polarising filter. Well, the 39mm filter will not fit the Type 4, even though I understood it had a 39mm thread. Can anyone tell me if it is perhaps a 37mm thread, not 39? I do not have a set of calipers handy to measure it myself.

Jabberwockt - Thanks! The 50/1.1 Nokton was a loaner. I did not buy it because it's too large and heavy for me. Congrats on your new 40 Nokton. I had it for a while but returned it due to decentering issue. When you get a good sample, this lens is capable of giving pleasant rendering. Some will not like the bokeh, but it's the character of 40 Nokton. I like its glowy moderate contrast wide open.

lenticular11 - thanks!

I got myself a new 35 Cron and 50 Cron in December when I was in Munich. I haven't got a chance to use both much - but surprisingly I like the 50 Cron more. Together with 28 Elmarit ASPH it makes a good combo.

one from the 50 Cron, M9 - ISO160, f/2.8, pretty straightforward conversion from raw to BW in LR 4.3. no NR, no sharpening, no clarity, I just reduced the highlight in the background a bit. Call me weird but I like the 'structured' bokeh of 50 Cron very much

One from 35 Cron, M9 - iso640, f/4: A busy chuch in Munich.

Thanks for looking
