Seekuh, thank you for your kind words. I usually convert the raw in LR 4.3 then convert the BW using either Nik Silver or LR itself. Each photo was treated differently - but I mostly do contrast and highlight adjustment - color filter adjustment on some depending on the lighting. Basically it really depends on the mood/effect you want to achieve.
I haven't contributed a lot to this thread in the last couple of weeks. So here are some photos from Englischer Garten in Munich. All photos were taken with the Summilux 50 apart from the last which was taken with the Summilux 24.
Thanks guys.
Winston - I seem to still be OK.
Joakim -
Douglas - love that last one of the pink furniture!
Hilmar - great set, nice to see some BIF (birds in flight) with the M system! Definitely miss Munich!
I've got a ton more photos from Toronto I want to post, but instead we got hammered with a great snowstorm today. Since the job I was to do today was rescheduled due to the storm, and it would have been crazy to try to drive anywhere, I went to the woods to get a taste of it. Lots of fun. At times the wind gusts must have been over 50km/h with snow blowing sideways. And the M9 endured it without complaint (at least none I noticed). Battery held up better than I expected too producing about as much as on milder days.
Here's a bunch - shot with either the 21 SEM, 28 Cron, 50 Lux ASPH or the 90 Summarit (only one shot in this set):
Wanted to go out on the ice, but the many soggy patches were an effective deterrent!
I was off the regular trails and found some deer again (of course they saw me first). 50 Lux cropped a bit, wide open:
Did I mention it was windy?
Might be difficult to tell what this is at web rez... it's grass
Something I noticed during post was that the 28 Cron and 21 SEM coding still leaves some edge color shifts. Had to do some pretty significant color-selective desaturation, which makes these look maybe a bit too clean. I.e. the snow is a bit too neutral, perhaps.
Ron, these images are truly wonderful. They capture very well the winter mood. My favorites are the pictures of the deer and the first picture showing how windy it was. I feel like being there.
By the way, I also noticed some edge color shifts with my 24 Lux when shooting snowscapes.
Hilmar, very nice set from Munich. I start to feel familiar with that park by now although I never been there.
Douglas, I like the one with the pink furniture. Nice touch with the mirror.
Ron, great set and the we have exactly the same weather in Stockholm today minus the wind. #4, #5 and the first of the windy ones.
